Great to have a chance to win this price in the OLGA contest, good job V'ger!V'ger wrote:INTRO sounds good but can be a bit unstable and uses relatively much CPU. Might be included in a vote though..
But new prize donated to the contest! Thanks to Xhun Audio![]()

So far I started out my project by building patches. I specifically wanted particular acoustic instruments for my song idea (fiddle, flute, hammered dulcimer, and accordian) and I'm impressed with Olga! By turning up the distortion knob it all of a sudden injected the initial cartoonish analog tones with the acoustic character of a real resonating body! The effect works especially well with the filter set half between lowpass and bandpass, with a little stereo chorus added.

Well, some days testing it and started a track, very very very ambient, almost hipnotic, almost no drum sounds, at the moment i didn't dive into the GUI, but i have the feeling that it's a bit difficult to make drum hits sounds. But let's see.
Olga = Gritty and raspy, but also, oniric and hipnotic. Not a bad mix after all.
CPU hit is ok too.
Good luck everyone and have fun with it.

Are using bit reduction effects (Redux in Ableton Live) allowed?

I guess that Redux is not allowed as it's a Live built-in effect.
http://www.kvraudio.com/product/3554 though should be fine as long as you don't automate it to become a "modulated effect".

yeah. that's where I'm not sure. Making a sound dirtier- does that equal unrecognized?

About Redux it should be fine if done moderately as there's nothing specifically in the rules about bit reduction or distortion, just the alter-beyond-recognition -one like already pointed out.
Was not really expecting Olga to do acoustic stuff, will be interesting to hear the result.Pulse Width Modulation wrote:So far I started out my project by building patches. I specifically wanted particular acoustic instruments for my song idea (fiddle, flute, hammered dulcimer, and accordian

Thanks V'ger. I'll make sure not to mangle anything beyond recognition
I'm curious to hear those acoustic tones as well. I have managed to make a decent sounding bell/celesta.

The acoustic tones are surprising, but not perfect, so I'll need some convincing emphatic playing on my performance to make it work. But there is something about that distortion control that seems to resemble FM synthesis in making the tone a little more complex.

Thought I'd post these- made them while working on my contest track. Feel free to use them as a starting point or as is.
Sorry they aren't VST. I tried saving in VST format but on Mac, using Ableton Live, it was really screwy. Wouldn't save presets and sometimes saved the preset but not the name...

Do the Sonitus effects bundled with Sonar but also sold separately count as DAW FX?InterSlotCall wrote: DAW FX are allowed.
