It's a perfect "instant gratification" tool! And even better if you want to dig under the hood. (not that I know what the hell is going on the modulation section. I attached an Envelope Follower to the Dynamics dial and patted myself on the back...) :D
haha!

One of my Tremor Beats processed with 2 instances of Fabfilter's Saturn automating things on the fly and a LFO modulating the feedback frequency in of the Saturns.

Of course setting up band limited distortion for kicks isn't that hard---you can do it by throwing a crusher or shaper on an aux preceded by a simple LPF, but this puts everything in one convenient place with many distortion options, EQ, and the GUI is a pleasure to work with. I'm set at $87 and it's just too hard to pass up at that price. Another cool tool for the shed. 8)

MEH to you :x (of course then again, I'm assuming you've got other FF goodies as for the reason ;) )

EDIT: nevermind, I forgot the check/uncheck progressive discount thing. Now I'm afraid to look at the actual price they want...

I only have three FF products so it will be considerably more than I thought.

:(

Oh well, back to CamelCrusher for me.

Haven't checked whole thread, any comparisons with Ohmicide? I have Ohmicide but fabfilter stuff are simply amazing and i might consider changing to Saturn.

Sorry, i know there is a demo but i don't have time atm to try it -have midterm exams and stuff-

After some extensive 4 hour demo, i'm sold. This so called saturation is so clean and yet very subtle. I can easily hear the good stuff it brings to the mix without muddying the mix like the rest of so called 'saturation' and 'distortion' plugin. Tried on drum bus and those things just glued very nicely. Another great product from fab filter.

Got Saturn yesterday and spent some time with it last night much to the annoyance of my fiance' ;-) The price was great ($104.40) which I suspect had something to do with having the FX bundle already. If you have used Volcano 2 or Timeless 2 the interface is immediately obvious to you.

An important thing to know if you use this is for modulations there are modulation slots you add. In the slot is a drop down menu where ALL of the modulation targets are. For lots of them you can draw a line between the modulation source and the target and it works. For something like the split between bands you can't draw the line but it IS a mod target. Very cool!

Here is a quick demo I did while working with Saturn. I created 2 bands split at 424 Hz and modulate a bunch of stuff including the mid-side pan and the band split value. Low band has gentle saturation and upper band has lead amp distortion. First is with Saturn and second file is without for comparison.

I have both Ohmicide and Predatohm. They are all quite different. Especially Ohmicide has a completely unique sound and many more weird and whacky distortion algorithms than Saturn.

Saturn on the other hand is such a massive plugin that you can use it as a Guitar Amp sim, compressor/expander, multiband compressor/expander, bit reduction destroyer glitch weirdness etc.

They both complement each other but the interface is definitely much better on Saturn and thus makes it a true pleasure to use. It's highly recommended that you try the demo. It is fully functional for 30 days so you have nothing to loose (you can render, save projects.. it's really fully functional)!

Cheers!
