Fabfilter design and modulation stuff.. always the best in plug-in land. But a multiband distortion without a solo button is weird
Hopefully they fix this shortly.

I have Ohmicide and from what I've heard so far, Saturn and Ohmicide are two very different beasts. To me, Saturn seems to have a better overall audio rendering quality. Still, Ohmicide has some very unique nasty algorithms.
Thanks to all the users here who posted their audio demos! Amaaaazing stuff, Saturn really seems to be a serious monster for warming, crunching and destroying

Tbh, I can already feel Kombinant getting really really lonely and depressed...
There is a giant span between nearly imaginary subtle saturation and total distortion destruction. For me, Kombinant does its best from about 50% to about 75% across that span. I think that with time getting used to the workflow, Saturn is gonna end up being my go to from about 0% to about 90%.
I still think there is about 10% of satan at the top that Ohmicide rules alone, but atm itd be hard to pick between them. The trade off for the warmification is a bargain. (Well, especially if you already have Ohm
)
Also, I still say- I have never really been able to 'dial in' the subtle saturation Saturn does so damn easily, at least not purposely.
Thing is tasty.

One thing I didn't like was that when I logged in and saw the list, it was $78. It wasn't clear was that it was $78 IF i purchased every single other thing they make.A.M. Gold wrote:Well, it's $129.

You could, but I wouldn't recommend it. I really wasn't able to get anything satisfying out of it guitar wise until I put an amp sim after it and even when I disabled the amp stage and just tried to use the cab section (I tried both Amplitube and Speakerphone) I got no where. Of course, that's as easy as downloading Amplitube 3 Free or another amp sim of your choice.bmanic wrote:
Saturn on the other hand is such a massive plugin that you can use it as a Guitar Amp sim,...
BTW, since I mentioned Speakerphone, it has some fantastic distortion algorithms built in.

The interesting thing is to modulate parameters. For instance using the envelope follower to control the mix level. This makes the distortion more a merged thing with the sound. Very helpful for all kind of drums/bass fattening.
Btw. Decapicator is completely another thing. It's more a distortion based of emulations of known devices (Afaik there are API, Neve and other stuff). It's more a set and forget thing, because there are not many tuning options.
Some bars of a track in progress where I played with Saturn. It's used to fatten up the kick (synthesized with Ana Synth) and the bass (Diva Juno 60 thing).

I have to take back my negative comments about the GUI. I downloaded the demo and I have to say the thing looks absolutely gorgeous.
I haven't got anywhere near enough cash to buy it but it's a great plug-in for sure.

WOW! I had the EXACT same thing happen to me!! I was actually stoked to think I could get it for $78, but it turns out its much more then that and now for sure out of my "impulse buy" price range. I'm going to have to really demo it now and see if it adds anything new to my current plugin set, but I think I'm going to wait for band soloing before I even give it a go.zerocrossing wrote:One thing I didn't like was that when I logged in and saw the list, it was $78. Then I went and fell in love with it and all of the sudden... it was $140 or so.
That was a bit of a slap. Worth it? Of course, but I don't like those little tricks. Just tell me how much is is based on my previous purchases (I have the Twin2/Timeless/Volcano deal) and let me see that number go down as I add things to my cart.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the discount, it just wasn't clearly presented... in fact you could say it was a bit of a distortion.
Disappointed too that I misread the discount....and I was all excited!

Well, you can surely get good distortion out of other plugs and probably use automation to get somewhat similar results, but there's nothing quite like Saturn really. I'm a bit of a distortion junky (ok, I admit I'm a bit of a plug-in of all kind junkyLGK_Dude wrote:WOW! I had the EXACT same thing happen to me!! This plugin is great!
The best and most versatile multiband distortion plugin I tried. Very simple and funny to work with it.
- Ohmicide is too much for me in most cases, but great on some material
- AD Kombinat DVA is also pretty cool and simple. I recommand it for those who can't buy Saturn. But less possibilities than saturn. And the saturn Algorithms seems better and more subtle.
- d16 Devastor, I like it's color a lot, I will see if I still need it now
Cons : Saturn seems to be the most demanding on CPU, but it's OK. On my macbook air, it takes 5 to 7% of cpu (on ableton live cpu meter), while the others take 2 to 5 %
(If someone needs the 10% discout for new customer just PM me and give me your mail)

Thanks for this input, I was wondering how hard Saturn can be CPU's. It's also possible like other plugin updates that FabFilter optimizes it a bit too later in updates.NeP94 wrote: Cons : Saturn seems to be the most demanding on CPU, but it's OK. First thing I did was uncheck all the other stuff.
