Hehehe maybe Reason could load AUs and VSTs, finally :-). And if they are so worried about stability, just run it in a separate process and sent the bits over IPC, computers are fast nowadays for IPC traffic.

And charge users again for something they already paid for. :x
No! Later, it would be integrated.. and thus completely different.

btw here is a list of all kinds of interesting goodies.. I wonder what happened to the ReGroove Mixer?

Its an iPad controller for Reason.

So you can control your reason rack with it, AND you can expand reason with iApp purchases.

In otherwords - you can buy IPAD VSTs or whatever, integrate it in RE, then have those sounds available automagically in Reason.

Yay! How cool would that be!

1 ipad app
2 vst something or other

I think we cab conclude that the Rack Extentions are the basis of he announcement (given hat that have paid for a trade mark and have designed a logo)

That probably means it not Reason for iPad IMHO.

I think it probably is a kit provided to VST developers so that they can make Reason instruments (with perhaps some CPU advantage- Reason native Diva anyone?) or (and perhaps more likely) a module that hosts vsts external to reason with an audio and midi connection (so even if the external rack crashes, reason dest fall over). It's such a simple idea and kinda keeps the studio hardware paradigm, making external vsti like an external rack mount synth with midi and audio connection,

Basically all the props had to do was make a vst host that talks to reason.

Do I win a prize if I am right?

What about the maelström guy being on a project with props? I don't know what his skills are so maybe he can program that rack extension. Maybe we'll get a new synth as well!

Yeah i i don't think it's only an ipad app cause not everyone owns one. I think it will be something that everyone can access and will be available to anyone with a box that computes lol. reason Rnstruments running in a rack in other hosts would be my guess and/or vst plugin hosting in Reason that can be racked and patched like the Reason instruments and then loaded into other programs. :)

This. And possibly with MIDI In/Out for hardware instrument interfacing too, with the possibility to design your own unit that represents your external synth within the Rack.

As such of course we are supposed to be getting hyped about features which basically all the other DAW software programmes have had for the last 15 years. Big news for Reason die-hards though I guess

Yep , I definitely think it has something to do with hosting vst in reason and Reason instruments being able to show up as vst in other vst hosts ( ex. in Mulab , Live , Reaper, Studio one, Cubase. etc etc ) . Reason used to be a big deal quite aways back with rewire to protools but that was way way back , times have changed . I was looking at Reason essentials being $99 the other day , buts its lacking alot , but if i was able to use reasons sampler in a vst host without rewire it'd be a good deal . Lack of VST , has gotta be killing there business ??

It's still there in Reason 6: Image

At the time of this writing I'm older then I was when Reason was making its way on the scene. 8)
Alot of things have changed for me,musically since then.I was a Reason v1 Lover till v3 you could say,it was really something special back then. Daws we're cool, but Reason seemed alot cooler to work in,cpus at the time weren't as powerful and just couldn't process stuff the way u can now.

Time moved on I got older,Cpus n Daws got better n are alot cooler then reason of my older days, not like I need to mention the clear advantages.

Year after year tradeshow after tradeshow as they came n went, more rumors of vst support finally in reason.

Nothing surfaced.

Stardate 2012:

I'd say cheers and congrats on finally coding an instrument that can work stable with vsts after 14 years  if you did it..

i'd give it a peek, but as someone already other mentioned, S1v2 is here now, ya gotta beat that! :D

I'm with you on this one. I just load up reason these days to play around. The workflow is so slow for me, and I'd rather be in reaktor if I'm going to work on something form the ground up.

They thought midi would be outdated at this point, I guess they thought vst's would not evolve to the level that they did. Even though they still have a loyal following they are lucky to be where they are. I feel that as time passes and glory days of hardware are further and further behind us that they are going to have to do alot to get younger users to be interested.

The question is how third party folks are going to adapt now that they have to do this and aax.
no purchase until everything goes to usb 3.0 and all hosts are 64 bit!

I don't think this is Reason on iPad, they said 'technology news' and I don't think a port is new technology, my guess is VSTs wrapper for Reason. The Line6 wrapper is a big hint that this is possible, code exists and if the Props want to stay competetive, likely a necessity.
