Sorry for "spamming" but this might help someone (not to mention me):
If you don't own any FabFilter plugs yet and would like to get Saturn, pm me and I'll ask them to send you a 10 % off link.
Almost everyone else in this thread can also do this for you, I suppose.

Running the 64 bit VST2 version on my i7 PC with a 96KHz host samplerate and HQ mode on, Reaper's cpu meter reports 0.5%NeP94 wrote:Cons : Saturn seems to be the most demanding on CPU, but it's OK. On my macbook air, it takes 5 to 7% of cpu (on ableton live cpu meter), while the others take 2 to 5 %

Well, each to their own. I really like the type of weird guitar distortion you can get out of Saturn. You can very easily create something completely unique which I like a lot! I'm not really interested in always creating "realistic" amps. I want to explore new nice sounds.zerocrossing wrote:You could, but I wouldn't recommend it. I really wasn't able to get anything satisfying out of it guitar wise until I put an amp sim after it and even when I disabled the amp stage and just tried to use the cab section (I tried both Amplitube and Speakerphone) I got no where. Of course, that's as easy as downloading Amplitube 3 Free or another amp sim of your choice.bmanic wrote:
Saturn on the other hand is such a massive plugin that you can use it as a Guitar Amp sim,...
BTW, since I mentioned Speakerphone, it has some fantastic distortion algorithms built in.Of course nothing near Saturn, but very good.
Groovy Guitars ala Saturn
I cooked that one up in about 10 minutes so it's not mixed or anything. All compression, most of the EQing and of course all saturation is from Saturn. Oh, and all "mastering" is from Saturn as well. There's a bit of valhallaroom on the guitars and drums. That's it.
EDIT: It's also important to note that it's very simple to create a very nice and responsive guitar tone, one that really lets you play with the dynamics! Oh I just love that envelope follower. You can even "cheat" by having a LFO as a mini sequencer accenting a few notes synced to tempo. It's a real treat to work in this uncommon, very creative way. That's actually what I love about all the creative plugins from FabFilter.. they just "tick" with me and I almost always create new things when tweaking the plugins.
Cheers!

Ditto. Reminds me of the web based sign-ups for various things where, when registering for an account you are automatically taken to a page where every possible box is check-marked with things like "YES! Sign me up for a three year term with a monthly cost of $29.99!" or whatever.zerocrossing wrote:One thing I didn't like was that when I logged in and saw the list, it was $78. It wasn't clear was that it was $78 IF i purchased every single other thing they make.A.M. Gold wrote:Well, it's $129.
Still worth it...we shall see.
I gots me a date with some Waves demos when they finally roll off the line....![]()

Then I went and fell in love with it and all of the sudden... it was $140 or so.
That was a bit of a slap.
A bit annoying that it defaults to that state, but at least you can quickly see what you would pay for all of the FF plug-ins you don't have.

Very good example away from the usual types I hear on KVR, like whats going on with the guitar very subtle but spacial.bmanic wrote:

Thanks guys! There will be many more presets in the future. I've already got quite a bunch of new ones. I'll ask the guys at FabFilter to include them in the next update (where I hope they will add the solo button!).
Cheers!

Hi ttoz, just interesting what these plugins were.ttoz wrote:on mac in S2 a basic instance takes 2% so that's quite a bit more and up to 5% with some of the multiband presets.hibidy wrote:It doesn't even freak S2 out.
Still acceptable IMO
first thing i looked for was the solo button which is not there so at least i am not crazy lol.
I am sure FF being such a responsive bunch will add it.
That said, this thing within just ten minutes of demoing, instantly replaced about 6 other plugins for me and then some.
This is a *must have* with absolutely no doubt whatsoever.
I really like Saturn I hope I will by it. However, it can't replace Nomad's Magnetic for me, coz it has a different sound on tube and tape modes.
