My perspective from speaking about this subject with software developers years ago is that supporting each different hosts' formats is a major pain, regardless of how good or bad it may be, and that rolling their own system keeps them from having to worry about what directions the host companies choose to take. Personally, I really like the systems NI, Spectrasonics, and Arturia have come up with, and even u-he's system, though not nearly as sexy, is perfectly workable.
I agree. I'm a big fan of internal preset systems, as those presets will always be there, regardless of host changes.

Also FL studio10 supports VST3 since I have padshop installed in my DAW. Amazing instrument and that's for sure.

Thought I'd give it a try - the installer also comes with an additional content folder but the "read me" says nothing about where to put it (on Mac) - or is it installed automatically?

Looks like the additional content is installed but no presets are showing in Studio One v2 :?: :?:

Don't tell me S1 doesn't fully support VST3 presets?

Purchased a few hours ago and everything is working fine here in S1. Not sure what could be your problem.

I was hoping to hear some more audio demos for this before I purchased, since it sounded pretty good..but the lack of import was a real turn off. Took the plunge anyway.

Here's a little demo track I put together to show off some presets. They're by no means the best ones I found either, there's a lot there and I didn't get through the entire list.

I'm actually very pleased with this so far. The presets and sample content are very high quality. Although, not surprisingly the presets are almost all pads and soundscape stuff (some bells etc too). But as you can hear, it's capable of some nice warm basses.

PS. It certainly wont replace Alchemy for me personally. But for the price I'm very impressed.

Just installed. Works fine here in S1v2 on Win XP.

So, we cannot load samples in it?

It wasn't showing the presets by default after installation - eventually I found out I had to tell S1 to rescan presets - when it did that they showed.

Hey, thanks Igro. Really appreciate that! :)

There's a real lack of audio demos out there, especially complete tunes showing it off (which is what I always like to personally hear), hence why I made it. At least it gives a little better impression of the samples/preset quality anyway.

FLStudio 10 does work with VST3 as I use that option for one of my vsts that I bought. Now Ableton, on the other hand, just doesn't and if they don't fix that pretty quickly people will migrate away from it as the VST3 format takes over.

Really, VST3 taking over? About 9 out of 10 of the plugins I use don't even have a VST3 version! :?

Too new yet to take over but VST2 is becoming outdated. When given the choice of a plugin that offers VST2 and VST3 I choose VST3. Sort of akin to constantly updating my video card drivers every month.

Why Ableton is sitting on their hands I don't know but I mean sitting on their hands in more ways than just the VST3 stuff and I will give an example: I have a plugin (VST2) that in Ableton racks me out 35-100+ percent CPU (depends how fast I roll across the keys) but in FLStudio 10 I get 5-14% (C2D 3.4ghz 8gigs of ram). Stuff like that coupled with the lack of the modern Steinberg standard for VST just makes me question them.

Best $50 I've spent in a long time. :)
