As a Studio One user, I thank you. I'd be very interested if you were to comment further (eg. Studio One does not have effects in the master buss that cannot be turned off, summing of digital audio includes no special maths that other software developers lack) but at least you've removed a post on your website that contains boastfully incorrect information.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

I was going to object to that, too, but I think the actual meaning of his statement is "anything other than the sound quality issue" and refers to sample content, plugins, and workflow. It's perhaps an unfortunate choice of words that makes it seem as though he is still endorsing any client's belief in the issue of superior sound quality. Of course, the ambiguity could be purposeful, but let's be honest: English isn't the best language for expressing yourself clearly and unequivocally.

well. you're not my son! but i would agree also that there MIGHT be some hypothical bad non-stochastic noise that could be perceived as nasty even at -140dB.

Take a look at the author's new post about his old post. Note where he addresses any of the actual issues raised. See it?

Me, either.

Apparently, making untrue claims about a product and how it is superior to others is of no concern. It's the misperception of marketing that's the real issue.

It's their job to market, it's our job to be informed. I have no problem with them making claims on their site to be honest. But, I think it is perfectly valid for us to ridicule those claims here. If people buy products based on advertising and endorsed recommendations then they get what they get and no whining allowed or aloud either. All it takes is a little google time to figure out the BS behind summing superiority in modern DAWs.

I'll just suggest the next time something like this gets done that we shall see another withdrawal ... and an excuse blaming it on our perception.

We can't let Wolfgang off the hook here given their official statement and not-exactly-retration... all DAWs configured the same (same bit depth same sample rate, same content at the same levels) should produce bit-for-bit identical output (assuming things like "automatic dithering" (yikes!) are disabled.

Wolfgang: can you please confirm Studio One does this?

It's the misperception of marketing that's the real issue.
the issue was a marketing guy who started talking about something he's clueless about, but something that makes sense in the strange world of marketing where everything that seems to be usable as an advantage, will be used, without thinking too far ahead :)

Talking about marketing, hasn't Dr Drum made the news here yet?
It's the crap DubTurbo guys at it again:

now THAT is the fugly side of marketing. It's all there, paid views, filtered comments, youtube spamming, porn-like website.. (& as for the marketing lies, it's a good laugh on the website)
The only thing they can't lock are the "don't like", so use your power :)

Isn't that the #1 skill required for that job?

But, I think you guys need to cut him some slack. He's just a guy writing on his own forum. I doubt very seriously he understood the context of his comment.

The question is, is PreSonus an honest enough company to be willing to tell a large part of their userbase that their ears are, in fact, lying to them*? Some of the developer-run companies do (hello, Gol!) but larger companies seem to have marketing departments that would crucify anyone who perpetrates truth.

* Studio One sounds exactly as good as it should. Much like all the rest. The lie is that it sounds inherently better due to Mysterious Process X

Magnetically aligning the electrons of the charged state(1's) of the accumulators and registers used to sum channel data together. Yeah, that's it.

Maybe it should be required to learn some DSP basics before getting permission to use a DAW? It's not rocket science, really...
