I'd like to know if people still use "old" softwares in their music production like these ones:

- LinPlug RMV & the older versions of it.
- HGSounds Black Magic
- FXPansion DR-005
- CM SR-202
- CM DS-404
- CMPlay
- Shortcircuit 1

I could create large commercials sound librairies for these but it would be useless if almost no ones use these softwares today (or aren't interested in soundlibs for these!)

I don't know that I'd consider RMV that old. I do use it from time to time.

i use Shorticircuit 1 on a regular basis. it's actually one of my most used plugins.

I still use sr202 and cm play. Other than that using halion 4.

I'd need to make custom kits for SR-202. What's available now is just no good.

You're right. But some of the Computer Music SR202 kits are quite good & very usable. You just have to find them thought. The ones I have are either from cover CDs or the old CM ftp website (I think this ftp doesn't exist anymore).

I still use SR202 a lot, I like the GUI, the only drawback for me is that it's only load 16-bits mono files. 16-bits I can live with, but mono...

Replaced RMV with Poise and SC1 with TX16 (TX16 may even replace vsampler at some point, who knows)

shrtcrct1 for me as well. love it. after all these years I am still finding features, too. just recently my band mate (and tech guru) showed me how to reconfigure the outputs so that we can have 16 x mono and 8 stereo outputs in Reaper

I had no idea, lol. And the loop-point modulation controlled by things like aftertouch has made for very nice effects...example

I really really wanted to like DS-404, even after I bought Shortcircuit (yes, I shelled out 160 for it

no regrets) but I couldn't for the life of me figure out the banks and patches format. I tried and tried, and each time I thought I had it sussed... oh well, some of us just aren't technical I guess.

I also wanted to point to TX16.

I instantly liked it (workflow wise, I know that's subjective though), it's free and it seems to have a pretty active development.
And this is also a big plus imo:

100% documented XML-based sound file format. Anyone can write conversion tools.
