More sleepy thoughts.

nikp2000 mim
Some delicious sounds here, but it doesn't really draw me in.

mrblitz prayer wheel 12
I was really wondering what you'd do with this theme. Well, I don't know about hypnotic, more like bludgeoned into a stupor!

Farlukar Credulity
Some very nice phasing effects especially on phones. Very insistent though.

yevster Hypnotherapy
Very nice atmospheric piece. Definitely floaty but so short!

offthewall WatchTheWatch
Ah the traditional hypnotist approach. Quite different from anything else this month and very cleverly done. Is this what you use to quieten down your new grandson?

bzur Mesmerized
I like the idea overall, and you've got some great sounds there, but for me it doesn't quite make it. I think it's another one that's too 'awake', although I really like the way it resolves at the end :)

forw noLighttt
Very spacey intro. Very strange idea with the words. Don't really know what to make of it, more of a horror track than hypnotic.
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently no longer an 'elderly', now a 'senior'! Is that promotion?

In one word? WOW. In 3 words? criminal minimal subliminal
I cant believe youve made this. Its just so ...so so ..no words.
Is there anyone who can top this? Reich and Glass and Mertens
sat together and somehow played this inside your and now our minds.

interferon_dreamingonthecouch

Must have been cold on that couch standing on the northpole. ;-)
Lovely drumsounds. Very wide and full mix also.

mister natural - conversation with dali

This reminds me of music you hear on school tv or on corporate promos
The calm parts speak the most to me. Lovely sounds.
Great how things popup unexpectedly. Those guitars are pretty sweet also

farlukar-credulity

i think it was terrific but i cant remember because i fell asleep at the start
and i mean that in a possitive way. very very hypnotic track

nikp2000-mim

Zooming stripes. Sucked into this. Very hypnotic. Lovely sounds

beanpole_look_into_my_eyes

is it me or is that bassdrum a bit distorted? Think i would prefer a rounder bassdrum.
Love the vocoder. especially when it sings the high parts. The bells came as a surprice.
Would have loved this better if the overall soundquality wouldve been better

bjulin_special lullaby

Imagined green hills and a blue sky and i saw kites in the sky breaking the light of the sun
into a thousand colorfull beams The end is also awesome. My fav. This month.

docjon_whileiwassleeping

Its my favorite song and it touches me but its just not really a hypnotic track to my ear. Very lovely progressions and the sound of that piano is just sooo romantic and sweet

folderol_hours_and_hours

Dreamy / outerworldly. Fantastic composition and perhaps not completely hypnotic but captivating non the less

forw_nolighttt

I imagined myself to stand in an industrial area untill the poem came
This must be the most creative entry of all. Its also one of my favorites

inboxzero_anteoculoscircuminspice

Another very hypnotic one. I forgot the repeating bassline and was sucked into this

jerru_seduction_of_hypnotica

Lovely guitarsounds. The melody grabbed me instantly and the 70s drums are just really punchy / fresh
Such a clever composition. Many whispersongs this month ;-)

mrblitz_prayer_wheel_12

Didnt expect a rock entry this month. Deserves a better ending. :-) Not a quick fade out.

offthewall_watchthewatch

what? you said watch what? for some reason i forgot all other entrys after listening

yevster_hypnotherapy

Filmish / taking me somewhere. Lovely instruments / sounds

liqih_hypnopipes

fresh dubby hypnotrack. The drums are just stunning.

Well, thank you very much for those kind words! I have listened to quite a lot of Reich and Glass but had never come across Mertens - now there's a whole new back-catalogue of music I'll have to check out!

Hmmm. I seem to be making rather a lot of negative comments. Sorry about that, it's just how I see things.

beanpole Look_Into_My_Eyes
This doesn't work for me at all I'm afraid. It just comes over as strange.

Liqih hypnopipes
Well, I quite like this but don't see how it fits the theme.

knockman murmur
Very interesting Eastern basis. Has echos of some late period Beatles, and also Pink Floyd.

LagunaRising WinterOfTheSenses
Wasn't too keen on the extreme panning at the start, but it develops quite nicely. A bit too bright to be hypnotic though.

rachMiel hypnotiQue
Oh this is right out there by itself! Very eerie track. Nightmare hypnosis I'd say.

evo2slo PaintTheWaterClear
Lovely song and excellent production. More a {ahem} 'chemical' trance than a hypnotic one though.

Vulcandj Sands Of Time
Firstly welcome to the cafe contest. Another Eastern-ish flavoured entry. Unfortunately you haven't titled it 'date-name-title' so might lose points as a result.

Thanks for pointing that out to me. I am fairly new to posting my music online. How can I change my file so that it is correct? Is it as simple as renaming it and uploading it again? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi, Vulcandj.

As a rule, don't resubmit or change your entry without asking, but yes, you can rename and then reupload your entry. It looks like you did already. [Edit: I guess you didn't. I was looking at the address, didn't have the file yet.]

One more step, though: please add /download to the end of your link, or see this very helpful tutorial by kryptonaut.

DH,

Sorry about changing my link (I did that instead of re-uploading). Now that I have a clue, the next time should go smoother.
I'll add the /download to the end of my link.

REVISED It took me a few edits, but I think I got it.

Thanks for showing the new guy some mercy.

Thanks for the comment mate, for the theme I guess that hypnopipes are more on the "trance" side
of hypnotism, just like all reagge dub music, you got that "suspended" change that almost never arrive,
...but running on a clock like beat, to stomp your feet, ...relax thru movement, not by resting still, and blah blah

VulcanDJ - sorry, your track still downloads as 'Sands of time.mp3' without the proper prefix. I've had this problem too when I uploaded to soundcloud. It seems that no matter what you set up in the soundcloud 'permalink' or title fields, the file name that is downloaded through that link is always the same as the name you gave it locally when you uploaded to soundcloud.

So, given that you are allowed to do so in this instance, you need to locally rename your file '1203_VulcanDJ_Sands-of-time.mp3' or something, then re-upload it to soundcloud. You need to change the permalink on the new one so that the link you posted here points to it, and then you should be good to go. If you kept the old copy as well then change its permalink so that it doesn't clash with the new one - but probably best to delete the old one first to avoid confusion.

I'll edit my 'tutorial' to make this point.

Good luck...

Post

folderol, thanks! as always, i appreciate the listen. pleasant dreams ... ;-)

@folderol and @emerald:
thanks a lot for your feedback!!

@Kryptonaut

First off, thanks for the great tutorial on how to do the download stuff.

Second, thanks for pointing out that it was still wrong. I'm pretty sure it is fixed now.
