This is a wonderful idea. Really exciting. Can I just point out though that I really enjoyed hearing music of other genres on the last OSC I was in.
If we narrow down the compilation to one genre we narrow down our selection and it may get boring too. Perhaps we could have a pool of tracks, like the top five from each osc, and vote based on how much we want the author to "expand" on his track idea, to go all out with all tools available to take the track to the next level?
It would be our personal favourates and this would ensure the CD is very good and has something for everyone, it would expand peoples musical horizons like the OSC has done for me.
Just a thought

Yes, it's a great idea. In fact i always wanted to remake my OSC tracks with all my arsenal.
But i have some doubts yet.
-Only old composers can participate on this?
-Old composers only can remake their own tracks or they can choose another one from another composer?
These are my doubts at the moment.
Have a good day guys.

hmmm... to be honest, I don't think, it will get boring.Aiyn wrote:If we narrow down the compilation to one genre we narrow down our selection and it may get boring too. 1. We are going to do more than one compilation... so every compilation will have it's own theme/style. -> I don't think this is boring!
2. When I listen to samplers, every genre is packed in to, I feel like being hurt in my feelings sometimes. At first, there is a wonderful emotional piano-thing and then an hardcore-dubstep-track bombs in -> nah, that really doesn't feel good, even if both tracks are very cool!!!
3. It will kill the idea of supporting composers, that were NOT in the top 5, but had a cool idea in their tracks!
4. How do you tell a composer how much we want him to expand his track? This is something you can't tell exactly... also the difference will not be that remarkable, so the two cd's would not make sense anymore!
I really thank you for your opinion but I hope you understand, why I won't change something the way you mentioned... or do you want to do this to me right now? ->
have a good day

Only composers, that are already in the OSC database! So every track from OSC 1 to OSC 37 (or 38IrionDaRonin wrote: -Only old composers can participate on this?

Yes, composers enhance their own tracks. The tracks should keep the feel and style of their authors!

Irion's idea about revamping other's tracks it's not to dismiss, let's think to put these as bonus tracks on a compilation (or in a special compilation).Bjulin wrote:Only composers, that are already in the OSC database! Bjulin, I don't mind at all that you have your own preferences about it, in fact I did not pay enough attention to realise there would be multiple CDs. Your points make good sense. The way you put it I can imagine it being quite exciting, but what excites me most is the idea of remaking other peoples tracks! THE REMIXES CD! It would be cool to hear other peoples takes various pieces.Bjulin wrote:OK!bzur wrote:(or in a special compilation).

The two ideas are not mutually exclusiveAiyn wrote:Bjulin, I don't mind at all that you have your own preferences about it, in fact I did not pay enough attention to realise there would be multiple CDs. Are we going to get the cd professionally mastered? I Think it would be a good idea. We could all chip in.

I've been thinking about this... we should see if there's an independent label out there that might consider picking this up, or maybe something like Magnatune. Maybe we could get the contributors a little scratch outa the deal, or we could donate proceeds to starving supermodels or something.
