Hmmm, vielleicht liegt's daran: "Note: You need cookies enabled to sign up or log in."

For your information:

There's a legal torrent of Jean-Michel Jarre performing Oxigene available for download on the Hunger City site.
I think an OT has never been so pleasant for me :)
Thank you!

I think, that OSC has huge inspirational power... why not use the ideas and make great tracks with all those ideas, but enhanced with all the equipment we got?

Maybe we could share a CD like this as Donation-CD's?
Terrific idea, would love to hear some of the tracks done with all available equipment and compare it to the one-synth one. So everyone chooses their best track and sorts another version of it? When should it be finished? Some people might take time to get hold of. And how to choose the tracks? By vote?

I relaunch my idea to choose by genre:

- Trance (Bjulin, Solidtracks for example)
- Chill-out (There are good examples from Pocvecem, myself )
- Epic (Photonic, Irion...)
- Weird (and I'm talking about the visionary tracks of Gorgo, Ruedirena and Key88)
- Space (Doc Jon, Irion, me - again...!)
- Minimal (Stonail and others)
- Vintage

This way no-one should be excluded, I hope.

Hey guys...

I think, we can choose another theme for every compilation but I don't think, that we should do too much compilations at once! Every 3 to 6 months is a good goal to release a HQ compilation...

First thing we should find out is, which theme should be the first.

On Monday I will post a new thread with a poll! People will get 1 week to choose ... and then, we will choose the tracks! If somebody has suggestions about it, feel free to post it here, or send me a pm!

cheers, Bjulin!

Sounclouds compression kills the audio quality. Download hopefully gives better results?

This issue has been discussed in the past OSCs (maybe last september or october, I don't remember well). Personally I've come up with the sad conclusion: resistence is futile!

Anyway, yes, download gives better results because you download the original version. I usually upload a 320kbps mp3 file.

Post

i uploaded a ,wav file, thinking it would be better to have it compressed only once rather than having soundcloud compress an already compressed mp3. Maybe an mp3 is better though?

I'd suggest the MP3 route - the download is an uncompressed .wav file. I tried both uncompressed .wav and 128kbps mp3 and both ended up with equivalent quality in the player. As bzur said, you could go higher quality 160 or 192kbps; I suspect you won't find much difference in the end.

Post

cheers z. I'll try that.

Soundcloud will encode everything even if it's already in the 128kbs mp3 that the player uses so uploads in uncompressed format should be the best, but probably the biggest factor is headroom so leave a little space (don't max out the level).

Hello there folks ... great to see OSC doing brilliant!! :) ... And great that I have a bit of time spare and may be able to contribute this time round - been a while for sure. Some nice edgy sounds coming out of OLGA, itching to get some tweaking done and a track composed.

All the best... catch you all when I've read back a bit and caught up to where everyone is at.

All the best.
