That's my entire insight to this 43 page thread.
I have to say: This is probably the best post so far.

That's a great insight!

For me, I'm most interested in what this is going to mean in terms of sound quality for Reason. If the third party REs, both instruments and effects, are of top notch sonic quality, then Reason will become a sound designer's dream. The flexibility Reason offers right now is only dampened by sound quality. I can guarantee that if REs end up being a winner, Reason will see a lot more use from me (although there are VSTs it just won't replace for me).

I still refuse to use it's sequencer though. Rewire only.

Post

Well I truly hope RE will give Props more time to actually make the sequencer usable. Right now it's a train wreck of clunky tools, modes and a HORRID grid system.

Who knows, maybe since they have third parties making effects and synths now they can give it another overhaul for version 7. The possibilities of the rack has always intrigued me and appealed to my inner mad scientist but I've always written Reason off because of the MIDI editing side of it, with RE and a very updated sequencing interface Reason would suddenly become far far more appealing

Post

For me the Reason UI really needs to scale / resize at higher resolutions. I like the rack concept but the UI is IMO terribly dated. I just cannot work with it. Hopefully the props will somehow allow for a single view of a rack that can be scaled to work at higher resolutions like 1900 x and so forth. Was it not originally designed for a 1024 x 768 resolution? Has it changed since then? R6 requires a 1024 x 768 resolution. Terribly dated IMO.

The success of Re is tied into Reason as the host. I don't see a mass exodus to use the current Reason environment even with Cheaper Re plugs. The idea behind Re is much better than the Host UI and workflow that that is offered by (Reason)... at least for now.

The UI issue is pretty much the only reason why I cannot spend much time with the R6 currently.

But that means that I can Rewire them and have them in my favorite DAW for $13?
Something is off. :?

Actually a redesign of all Reason's UI elements would be a good move. They could keep the same colours and layout etc, just replace everything with more a modern look.

Rewire only has one way audio. Also, Rewire is a pain that I will be glad to use much less of.

Post

if 13 (or even 30) $ is true i wonder what the developers will tell their users who bought the respective vsts for a 100 bucks or more?!

I know. I can still use a VST synth "Re" with the effects "Re" via rewire into my DAW for less, much less money then buying them for my DAW in VST format..
