i hope some cubase studio 5 power user will enlighten me here...
and no, i don't want to upgrade yet to cubase 5 full version or cubase 6...

(in reaper, it is called "BOUNCE", or "SAVE LIVE OUTPUT TO DISK".)

and if cubase studio 5 can do that, is it cumbersome ?

i read the cubase manual, but this particular function eludes me...

b t w, (i use the latest cubase studio 5.5.3 PC version under win7 64)

You mean like recording a guitar through a soundcard or like playing a synth plugin and recording its audio output at the same time?

yes, i play vst instruments with the sequencer often in cycle mode while i modify lots of parameters on the fly. that performance i want to capture in realtime all along.

That sounds like you want to record the automation rather than bounce it down to audio, or do you want record automation and bounce it down to audio also?

Route the track's out to a bus instead of the default main stereo out. Create an audio track and select that bus as its input. Arm the audio track and hit "record", or simply record the automation as griffin said.

if possible, i want to do both simultaneously.

@standalone:
if i have the sequencer in cycle mode (for my stepsequencing purpose), how can this audio track - which gets fed by the bus you mentioned - record everything in a linear fashion ? will it not cycle as well ? does what i intend to do sound like i need to use ableton for that ?...this i will want to avoid because of Live's instability and frequent crashing when stressed...

Yes, it will cycle. I guess you'll have to copy many times your sequence before recording, or glue your takes one after another.

If I remember it well, Cubase creates an audio file for each take when you are in cycle recording mode. If I'm wrong or if there is some option to make Cubase put all the takes in just one audio file you could just import it from the audio folder into your project.

Can Cubase Studio 5 record live audio to disk (like a tape recorder running all along or as Reaper)?
