My thoughts? Considering the absolute LACK OF TALENT ON ANY LEVEL these guys have, I think maybe STFU might be appropriate. I've made fun of nikkelback, I don't own any of their records either, but at least they know how to play their instruments.
Seriously though, I hate the black keys more than little nwa

Btw, I really thought what nickalback did a while back was funny. People were saying stuff like "you guys suck so bad, you make me want to kill myself" and they'd twitter back "why haven't you done it yet"

Around that time there were a ton of great hip hop albums released - It Takes a Nation of Millions, Critical Beatdown, Paid in Full, 3 Feet High and Rising, Paul's Boutique.
Good shit yo!

Bob Mould, really?whyterabbyt wrote:Same generation, but Ive also seen a lot of excellent stuff come from the artists in those bands (Bob Mould, Tanya Donnelly, Kirstin Hersch, David Pajo etc) which have continued up to the present.
Have to admit to foolishly not hearing a thing by Donnelly since Belly... Kristin Hersh has never let me down though.
Earth 2 was a massive album for me at the time (seriously think I layed the foundations for my tinnitus trying to replicate its tones) and the recent stuff is intriguing. Also appreciating Stars of the Lid more than ever so drifting in a similar direction... Will check out the other acts too, thanks.Meanwhile, my guitar-band-y inclinations have also headed off towards some of the the more psychedelic/ambient/droney perimeters, from Blut Aus Nord to Earth to Flying Saucer Attack.

Simply being able to play an instrument doesn't equate to making good music in any way, so I don't give any value to that statement at all whenever I hear it.hibidy wrote:I've made fun of nikkelback, I don't own any of their records either, but at least they know how to play their instruments.
If that's all it takes to put someone ahead of the pack then Brian Eno's music is complete shit by his own admission.
You keep telling us how much you hate Nickelback, but this isn't the first time you've complimented them...the lady doth protest too much methinks...

Taking a swipe at me WILL earn you points with your posse, but the people who actually read the comments understand the context. Pretty obvious that I was dissin' the black keys far more than complimenting nickelcrack.robojam wrote:Simply being able to play an instrument doesn't equate to making good music in any way, so I don't give any value to that statement at all whenever I hear it.hibidy wrote:I've made fun of nikkelback, I don't own any of their records either, but at least they know how to play their instruments.

What about people who write music but can't play instruments?robojam wrote:Simply being able to play an instrument doesn't equate to making good music in any way, so I don't give any value to that statement at all whenever I hear it.hibidy wrote:I've made fun of nikkelback, I don't own any of their records either, but at least they know how to play their instruments.

i.e....me, or more relatable...90% of today's electronic music.
Actually...I use to play live instruments, but I had to get rid of them. But that's a story no one cares about. It's been about 3 years since I last played a live instrument.

No, but I like them better than the black keysthecontrolcentre wrote:You love themhibidy wrote:but at least they know how to play their instruments.![]()
I did like that "live at sturgis" though because it's pretty clear they are good players. Yeah, I like rock, I like loud mesaboogies and PRS's.
Back on topic, it's pretty clear that there can never be agreement on such things.

I wasn't necessarily offended by his response to me, and I know you love me, but sorry, friend, I'm not backing your fight up. I was just curious what the thoughts are on those who can't play instruments.
