I wonder how many devs are (secretly) working on RE versions of their plugs right now... :)

Also, please keep it civil. There's no need to indirectly call someone ignorant. Especially someone who's very intelligent. If you want someone to share your point of view, don't make them your opposition, just try to explain how you came to your conclusion.
(aimed to people in general)

"Nothing left in the tank and needing to charge devs to support their app to stay afloat"
Just a funny quote off twitter i found concerning this ;)

I'm sorry to brake your illusion but Reason is very much a DAW by the definition. And hope? They already have several dev's on board (if you had watched the video you'd know that), some whom are clearly very enthusiastic by the format as well. Quite a feat for a company who's main program is an alleged toy that is not used by any professionals what so ever.

So what do you suggest they do?

I don't suggest they do anything ?
Why would i, I have nothing to do with Props other than being a long time customer for a different product (Recycle)

I do doubt many devs are working secretly to support RE though, the few i have spoken to think it will fall flat on its face, we can only wait and see, or create threads of 100 odd pages for the fun of it to promote Props, that works too haha.
Cant say props big announcements have had much impact at all in recent years, Record was going to be "The game changer" now a plugin store is going to be "The game changer"
Same people commenting, and still props doing nothing useful.

This is on page 58? All I can say is what a messe!

I never said it was a toy, I'm sure many professionals use it too.

And the devs who are investing time into re-coding for it are enthusiastic? Of course they are, they hope to make money out of the project. Good luck to them too! And to you, I hope you all make money out of Reason.

My point about DAW manufacturers not needing to following PH's example because they already allow plug-ins is still valid. And no, I still don't see it as a proper DAW. It just is what it is, it's one of a kind for sure.

This is the way the whole market is going. Apple Pioneered the AppStore, Google copied them, Microsoft are rewriting Windows to bring this in. Propellerhead are smart and have realized this is the way forward. Let me give you an example. My iPhone breaks and I have a replacement. For the 30 apps I've bought do I have to spend a day going through developers websites, downloading and installing software, locating license keys somewhere in my email history, going through challenge response authorization. No, I just log into my account and all the software I've bought is reinstalled automatically. If any software is updated I'm notified and I just press one button to update it. This is what consumers are expecting now - ease of use.

The average plugin fanatic is not the average consumer, app stores serve a great purpose for the entity running said app store, that is to take a profit from everything they offer, it is now too late for app stores to work in the audio plugin market (Not to say that it wont work for props, they have a captive audience that no other host has, simply because they are so behind the times in terms of plugin support)

There will be very little support for the app store from developers (I am talking in real terms here with a market flooded not only with cheap but also free plugins that will never get ported to RE)
And like i mentioned earlier is all we have to look forward to for these small developers is not only "Will you port to Mac" but also "Will you port to RE"
Most never port to Mac and most will never port to RE.
It is just the way of the world ;)

+1

This is a good feature for end users, independent of Reason or whatever. Amazon has their own Android store, I believe there are others as well from what I've heard. I'd love to see a VST store run by someone, or even multiple someones, it is a huge + to me, just there needs to be some competition and diversity. If they let you register your legacy plugins that you already own that would be really good, and whatever requires a DVD library could still have licensing and updates handled via the store. We already have online 'music stores' like audiodeluxe.com that are handling the hand-shaking between the customers and the vendors, it seems like the next logical step to me

How about a KVR store? If KVR had an app that remembered all your plugins and with a click could download all your plugs, even if the licensing needed to be done separately, that would be great for when you get a new machine.

There is a plugin store that was started not just two weeks or so ago, It hasn't taken off or gotten much interest whatsoever yet.

Honestly i had no interest, so i didnt even bother remembering, you could go back through KVR news on the front page, it was on there (I heard about it elsewhere but forget off hand where now :( but it does have a few big devs on board already)

Post

http://www.pluginboutique.com/ first link in google haha

So just out of interest, Props have pioneered nothing at all with the plug store idea ;)
Just saying.
