I think that Alpha Ray has a very good CPU performance.
For a test I made a little demo song called "Dark Alpha Rays".
Here I use 7 instances of Alpha Ray and I had a very low CPU consumption of 25%.

I agree. Instant buy for me. I'm currently running the demo, will install the full version within a few hours when I get back home. The effects really makes this synth shine! This my friends is a hidden gem. This plugin could easily go for €90, so buy it when it's cheap because I really think they won't let the price be this low for very long.

Yes the drive and chorus do wonders, i really like them a lot! I wonder if the guy above realised no fx are enabled in the presets til you switch them on..
I'm guessing he didn't.

NEWS:In this time we build some guitar effects. After a lot of synths it is time to do another thing for a while.
Bruno chorus, T-Xciter and N-Gate for guitar and some other tricky effects.

Cool!? It's a terrible mess!

Visiting his site helped me understand some of the aversion I've felt with his synth layouts, and the sloppy installation techniques of some of his demos. I don't know that he maintains his own website, but from the resonance with his other work it's a strong assumption.

No serious problems with them here, but it's a bit annoying that they install folders directly in C:\

There is no option to change that. So, you've got "Program Files", "Documents and Settings", "Windows" and a folder for every TubeOhm synth you have installed. If every developer did that it would be a mess.

This is what I was talking about, plus installers splatter PDF's and other files on your desktop without asking.

I contacted him about this annoyance and his response was basically one of just throwing up his hands. If his response were more of a "I can fix that", I most likely would have bought the synth in question. As it was he lost me cause it all felt so sloppy and this is basic programming type stuff.

OK, this was a win 7 installer problem. Not direct, some people don't know that they had to intstall in Win 7 the plugs as an ADMIN. The plugs should work direct after installation.
So this at first was the solution.
But OK, the next Installer will install in c:\programfiles\

And thanks for the tips with the website , i will look at this.

nice stuff, but the use of knobs instead of slider control is not a feature i favor in synths. i cant understand while anybody would want to use knob controls in this day and age.

Hey, next comes a new version of A-R, called 'A-R-2 Special' with more modulation functions, Stepper, Arp, maybe a new effect,ringmodulation, new oscillator and also a new Installer on c:\Programme\TubeOhm\A-R-2S\.....
This is a small thing do do it. And you can also move the complete A-R Folder into a Folder of your choice.

If you don't like the PDF's on your Desktop -- it costs only 1/10 sec to delete it with a click. But i don't remember that you send me a Mail !

Normally i hear to the user, and if they have suggestions that looks good , i do it. But in the end the most users must be happy with in, not only one!
It is very tricke do find out the right solution.
On the first release i write that A-R is a ' basic synth with a few additional TubeOhm features'.It is a little more than basic. This is also, but not only for people that starts with synth. Easy to understand, and it sounds OK.
