Need some help please, getting very frustrated with what i thought would be very easy to accomplish.

Win 7 PC
M-audio 24/96 soundcard
Cubase 5
Behringer Guitar link UCG 102 usb interface.

D/loaded the drivers from Behringer for the UCG102 and installed.

In cubase go to Device Setup and select Behringer USB audio device.

Record from electro acoustic guitar, cubase shows wave form all looks fine.
Try to play it back but theres no sound !

After going mental for 20 minutes I found out that to get playback I have to enter Cubase Device setup again and select M-audio delta Asio driver.

Ok, track plays back, but now I cant record anything else because to record I have to select the Behringer USB audio device which means I cant hear the previously recorded track ?! WTF is going on.

Anybody able to help me out here because this is driving me nuts.
Not sure if i have supplied enough info, but ask away if you need anything else Many thanks

Behringer becomes it's own audio interface.
Which device are you listening to when recording?

You must have Cubase set to the device you listen to.

I'm not sure, but I remeber something about it's not possible with two ASIO devices at the same time.

Check if WDM can be selected for two devices maybe.

Are there WDM for Behringer?

Another way might be to run headphone outs from this unit into audio inputs in M-Audio.

What are you listening through when you play back? Headphones or speakers plugged into the Behringer? Because if you're using ASIO, it only supports one device, so you'll need to listen through the same device you're recording with.

One solution would be to set up an aggregate ASIO device in ASIO4All, which would include both your 24/96 and the Behringer.

But, I have to ask, why do you use the Behringer in the first place? The 24/96 has audio inputs.

Thanks for replies.

I listen through my speakers which are connected to the audio outs on my M-Audio 24/96.

I'm using the Behringer because its USB. I dont want mixers power supply units and cables etc etc. This looked like the easiest uncluttered way, to get my guitar recorded

Plugged h/phones into Behringer and can hear playback.
will d/load Asio4all and see what happens

All I want to do is play my nylon strung electro classical via usb into cubase and record it.
Play that track back listening via my speakers to record some more pieces.
multi-track recording at its simplest or so i thought !
Why is this so difficult to achieve. :(

Ok, Asio4all seems to be the same results, all looks pretty confusing to me.
clicked on Behringer in the A4all control panel and it seems to be ok, clicked on M-audio and it says idle and messages like "beyond logic" whatever thats supposed to mean ! :?

Unfortunately, its made it more complex. A simple mixer might have introduced a couple more cables, but been easier to use because once its set up, you dont need to do anything else.

In the meantime, you could either run with the headphones whilst using the Behringer, or find an easier way of switching which soundcard gets routed to your speakers.

Its the design of ASIO; only one hardware device can be accessed by ASIO at a time. This was probably a technical decision made for speed/efficiency.

I dont know about Cubase, but other hosts can use other driver types (eg WDM) where this isnt an issue.

I have got a couple of small mixers, but thats what I want to get away from, boxes and cables etc all over the place.

going to try running the headphones out into the M-audio in and see how that goes.

Might give Reaper a try as well.

I just want to keep this as simple and as uncluttered as is possible

thanks for all the help

Connected headphone out on Behringer to M-audio 24/96 in, nothing.
Really cant be bothered to waste more time to achieve what should be very simple and easy.

When I use my Blue Icicle to record my steel string acoustics to connect my mic to PC via USB I dont have this trouble, oh well.

Might as well bin the Behringer useless device.

Use one at a time, is the way they intended. Asio4all shouldn't be used at all.

You can get a Behringer mixer for $20-30.

One of the mixers I have is a Behringer, but as I said earlier i'm trying to drop as many boxes, power adaptors, cables etc as I can.

Ok, luckily my speakers have an aux in so i can take the headphones out on the behringer to the speakers aux in.

Its one more cable that I can do without but its not the end of the world.

thanks for all the help
