TouchOSC or Lemur + XP?

I apologize if this has already been covered somewhere, but could someone give me a brief overview of what is required to hook up TouchOSC or Lemur to an XP machine? I'm thinking of getting one of these apps to help provide more realtime control over plugins but I'm not sure what is required for either to work and if it is worth my paying the considerable extra cost for Lemur over TouchOSC.
Thanks in advance for the info.

Can't help you with TouchOSC as I don't own it but for Lemur I did the following:-
Apple CCK - M-Audio UNO USB Midi connected to an M-Audio Midisport 2x2 - XP Machine (i5, 4 gig ram)
You then just load up Lemur and set the IO and it works. Cubase control requires an XML file to be loaded but the templates that need them come with them from the Lemur User Library. Plain midi just works as it should with any other midi device.
I did try a cheap Chinese CCK thing of ebay which works for a few minutes then the midi drops out - unplug it, plug it back in and it works for another few minutes etc - don't waste your money, get the Apple one if your going this way.
It works fine but it ain't the most elegant solution as the CCK and UNO stick out like a phantom boner and could easily get knocked out. I only went this way as I had the UNO lying around and therefore was my cheapest option.
I think Lemur uses NNRP or SYSEX for some tasks, so some things like the Alesis IO dock won't work IIRC - check the Liine site for supported devices.
Hope this helps
