Why military?

I was about to suggest something quite different, but was turned down by the overall Military-A/H-Bomb aura.

Anyways; I cannot help but think of something on the creative and aesthetic side of things rather than even remotely related to destruction. That is Arcady and Boris Strugatsky and the legendary Solaris and A Roadside Picnic, and their phenomenal, cult visual representations by A. Tarkovsky. IMHO something deserving far more acknowledgment than the military.

EDIT: Sorry, should have mentioned his name as well - S. Lem

So why not something like "The Zone" or just "Zone". Or some of the more esoteric anomalies in the Zone. And in that logic, the GUI could be something like perforated and battered (or not) rusty metal texture, with a gradient blueish colour filter (or not, dependent on the colour scheme) on top of it - in a way making it look like one of the artifacts left by the Visitors, or even an unmentioned one - photo-realistic and retro-соц.-futuristic :)

Btw " +1 for Perimeter, suits well this hypothetical scenario.

Hope no one got offended by the commentaries.

All the best

how about, 'tolstoy'?

then you get 'war and peace' in the same name.

Your limiter seems great, vlad !
Looking forward to your GUI work :)

What an amazing tool! I can't believe that it's free.

I have one little feature request though.
I hope you don't mind me asking this, but is there any chance of getting faster attack times for the compressor?

If I understood this right, 0.05s = 50ms?
It's quite slow for many situations.

The compressor would be even more versatile, if the attack could go as fast as around 1ms. Another simple, yet useful addition would be the mix knob for the compressor. These two features would bring a lot of new possibilities to the user.

I ask you to consider these.

Thank you Vladg :)

I'd say that separate wet/dry knobs for compressor and limiter section would be a good idea. Maybe even individual preset menus for each section could be something to think about. This tool is fantastic!

I think "Serp" could be a good name for it which is also continuation of the "Molot" theme( as in Serp & Molot"). Perhaps "Molotov Cocktail" is also something to consider...or maybe simply "Circle" because it seems to complete the whole circle of dynamic needs... :D

BTW. CymaticCreation made some very good points about name choosing at the beginning of this page

This is more leveler than compressor. The idea was to maintain loudness but not dynamics (e.g. to work with macrodynamics but not with microdynamics).

Okay, I'll try to check such attack times. If it will sound right it is right.

In my old tests "mix" knob in compressor worked similar to changing "ratio" parameter. I'll check it again. If it worth to be added it should be added.

"Serp" (sickle) is too harsh and brutal for this type of sound (at least for me). Check that sound sample from http://www.puzzlefactory.com.au/ that Dax mentioned. The sound is something like this:

Any chance at all of a JPEG or just a text file with a translation of the Molot labels?

I know I should learn Russian (going to Tajikistan this fall, after all) but until then… Would be most appreciated! ;-)

Best,

Joachim

Click on the little "EN" symbol in the bottom right corner to switch the labels to english ones.

Just tried this limiter, it is really very good, I got some quick good results and have hardly played with it yet.
