The higher the page number goes, the harder it is to follow the argumentation of the people in this thread.
 I think you are onto something...

I've also noticed on KVR lately Person A will make a claim and another Person B will call them on the claim. Person A will then back up what they think and Person B will argue Person A is wrong because of another claim they are making which is loosely related. I've seen it several times and been Person A in at least one of them. :-o

But the actual download and installation of an R.E. will require internet connection on the target computer, as does "trying" an R.E. from the store.
Using R.E.s with a totally offline PC won't work.

While I can to some extent understand the wish to have a "clean" computer, internet connection is more or less a part of the computer system today. The operating systems themselves seem designed for it, and we certainly design for it when we create software. (As do other developers - I think you'll see more and more applications make use of "the cloud" for example).

This will not change, I think.

Why wait for Propellerhead when this could be universal.
I made some easy plug in synthmaker, added an additional out from part of the plug. Then I loaded it into Sensomusic Easine, which let one patch together VSTs in a great way, and used the additional mod out I made in synthmaker to control the parameter of another VST. So I believe it may be sort of possible to use VST for some of the aspects of what we to this moment know about RE.

That's great! DAWs like MuLab are ready for this probable future. Are your plugins available? MuLab users could be interested to use them in the MUX which is also coming as a VST.

It was just for a fast test if it was possible, so it isn't any available at the moment, but I think I will make something with it in the future. A mono effect with a breakout chain for use with other effects will thought soon be available: http://flandershvibes.net/files/5113/33 ... PAT_XT.png

That's great news!
I hope devs remember that in Reason you don't need to make superadvanced plugs .. i mean rack extensions :)

And please, all devs, remember that we (at least i) will have to rebuild an entire platform of plugs for Reason .. so be sensible with what you do and what you will charge.

Apparently this is only the beginning... :D

Very excited about the update.

I started on Reason and have drifted from DAW to DAW trying to find the one that "fits". Cubase, Logic, EnergyXT, Reaper, MuLab, Stuidio One, and Pro Tools.

They all had nice features and offered everything that you need or want from a DAW. But I find it difficult to be creative in a digital environment.

When I used Reason, I was creative and innovative. I did some really cool stuff that is absent from the things I do now. Most of that came from massive combinator patches with 20 different devices all routed every which way to create something insane.

But then I realized that what takes me hours of experimentation and tweaking to accomplish with Thor, Subtractor, or Mealstrom (stacked with effects) I could do in minutes with modern VSTi plugins. I found myself feeling deprived. Feeling like I couldn't actually accomplish something current and profession with the tools provided in Reason. So I abandoned it and went on my DAW pilgrimage.

I've settled with Pro Tools as my favorite for professional projects where workflow, organization, and sound quality are key. But it is difficult to work with as a sequencer for creating Electronic Music (Granted it gets MUCH easier with each new version).

For EM I'm trying out Studio One. I've had some really frustrating moments with it where I'm trying to figure out where signal is coming from, and where it's going. But it is a fairly nice environment to be creative in...for the most part.

If this update turns out to be what they say it will be, then I am totally back on the Reason bandwagon. It's great for getting my ideas down quick and easy, but now I might actually be able to get the sounds I crave and the quality that is essential in today's environment.

I remain cautiously hopeful.
