I spent the first sessions just tweaking around, getting a feel for it, and building presets until it shaped into a good collection of instruments. Creatively it can be more fun that way.
More or less my approach... the key for me is: play randomly for a while, sooner or later something will emerge :)

Noticed that too. A shame it's a good sounding synth.
Maybe many were disheartened because of Jasinski's bloody amazing track.

There are some of us that have some things in the works, at least...
LOL... too kind!

Jasinski, how you did these drum hits sounds? (Kick, snares, hats)
Are them from Olga? I still can't believe it, man. That's crazy.

Finally i'm thinking to not participate, i already saw a winner... :?

Have a good day guys :)

Hi, friends. There will be two more tracks by the end of the week. Promise. Rena is currently finishing her charming tune Ольга создает while Ruedi tweaks and polishes Товарищ Троцкий исчезает из истории.

Ольга is fun! 8)

Cheers from cozy Germany

Kick:
Set the oscillators to noise, the filter type to highpass, the resonance way way high. Filter Env decay to fairly short... see screenshot Image

Something about Olga makes it so that the oscillators or filters or something are constantly modulating even when you have everthing static so I had to export the kick to audio and then just use one sampled hit to get a constant kick sound.

The snare has about 5 layers/instances of olga. 2 to get the tonal body of the drum and 2 or 3 to get the noise decay.

Hats and cymbals- just use the noise osc setting and high pass filter with resonance to taste, mess around with the amp envelope.

If you can us .au format, in this thread I previously posted a bunch of presets I made, including drums.

hope that helps a bit.

Believe me, I did try both the approach but it did not go anywhere. Or should I say, I couldn't take it anywhere. I am not blaming it to the synth but to my talent only. I even had a very good melody on Piano (Steinway preset or something similar). Never mind, next month may be. Now off to listening to all the submission so far. Good luck to everyone.

The phaser is turned on and modulates the signal. Turn both rate and depth knobs full counterclockwise and you should get a constant kick drum.

Muchas gracias for revealing some of your trade secrets.

Hi all,

Not much entries this month, but allready some very good tracks. When I heard the track from Jasinski I thought, we will all fight for the second place. But now Bzur came up with his 5th preview and I have to fear his final version.

Nethertheless, here is my result of the fight with the russian lady.

I called the track Pulsar.

23 instances in cubase 5 essential

FX:
IxonDelay
DensitiymkII, Rescue, Loudmax
EpicVerb
BootEQmkII, Electri-Q
Span

I believe I have the 'dry/wet' setting right in the middle (Which is dry) so the phaser shouldn't be taking effect.
I'll check that out though. Thanks!

Just rechecked the kick patch. I've tried to zero out every parameter that I can and there is still a lot of variation in the notes that are triggered. Sometimes it drops out the low end sometimes it seems louder. Really strange.

Hi jasinski. I'm not sure, but I dont think the oscillators in OLGA are synced ... at least not to the keypress. If this is the case, then this might explain the difference in the sounds of kiks.

Because you have a low frequency component to the sound, all the more the amplitude/phase of the wave will differ in position at the start of the note. Sometimes the waveform will be centred, othertimes it will be at either a positive or negative peak - which will cause more of a click, ... more attack if you like .... When more centred, particularly as the waveforms are saw and square, any edge might be lost as the decay of either the amp env or the filter envelope pulls the signal down ( if set very short ).

Sorry, should have provided a diagram or two, but hope you can understand what I'm saying 'might' be the case. :)

I follow what you're saying. Maybe you could try to set one up yourself and see if it works? I don't think it's a syncing issue for a couple reasons: I was using the noise mode for the oscillators and I had Osc 2 volume totally turned down- so there should only be one Osc audible.
