I say how to do this in the read me file. It is not difficult.
But.. If you navigate to where you decided to install the Strobe-SynDrum folder in the browser of Geist, and then drag that very folder up and to the left where it says 'Content', then it will drop it there and the icon will be displayed.
You will know when it works because it is a kind of Royal Blue.

I used a different colour to the other ones that have been used so far by the official expansions. I asked FXpansion if it was OK to use this colour, and chaps they are, they said it was OK. But don't be surprised if in the future an official Expansion pack comes out using this colour. Just saying.

Kudos to FXpansion!

If you have any further problems with it, just ask. PM or public is fine with me.

cheers. :)

Geist is a deep & powerful son-a-bitch

:=)

I could do that possibly, but what do you want to know?
How to create basic drum patterns?
In what flavour?
DnB?
Tempo? 170 bpm.
HipHop?
Tempo? 85 bpm.
DubStep?
Tempo? 140 bpm.

How to rip other beats and loops and put them in perfectly to your track?

How to create kits? Engines?

Please give me a general idea, and I will tell you if I can (am able) and am interested (can be arsed) to do it.

If you go to the FXpansion website (it is not too cluttered) then there are many great things to be learned.

Anyway, let me know, I will see what I can do.

Geist is a deep powerful little bugger, as you say.
I really hope it gets developed further, because for now, for me, it is THE drum machine par excellence.

I got BFD too, but that is another story.

cheers. :)

Thanks! For some reason it didn't work on a couple of attempts but it just did. I think you have to drop it right on the content text otherwise it just shows as a folder. Again cheers for this, lotta work must have gone into it. :)

ooooh, a "read me" file that I prolly should read . . .

dunno but Geist - as much as I love it's sounds & as often as I use it (almost every one of my tracks) . . . just scares the Jesus out of me considering how little I've mastered the capablities of it. I could zip around GURU pretty easily after the 2 yrs I used that little beauty before I "upgraded". Suppose that it'll take me just as long or longer to be able to be comfortable with the PHAT complexity of Geist. (Whereas - uTonic; I can bang-out complex beats in minutes). When I read Craig Anderton's tutorial/review of Geist : I just got a massive migraine . . . must be my daft, simple guitar player handicap

thanks again Codec !

This is great Codec. Any chance of colouring the skin to something that resembles the colours in Tremor?

Er, that is always possible. A lot of work, but possible. I'm not really a GUI designer. More a rifler round in knicker draws (so to speak). I could try. It might work... Tell you what, if I get a bit of feedback saying that my GUI stuff so far has not BROKEN anything (and give your basic system specs too), then I might be quite encouraged to venture a bit further into GUI land.

I tested these on winxp32sp3 and win7x64 and they work perfectly.

No promises, I might try. Interesting project idea, nonetheless.

Or, conversely, if you could tell me that you have tried my 'skins' and it has messed up your system, that might even be more valuable. (But please give your system specs again)

cheers.

Yes, you should definitely read the readme file. It is not only entertaining, but informative. And more, besides. That's three good reasons there!

Geist scares the hell out of me too. It's like that girlfriend that you luck out at getting and she is a year or two older than you. Scary, but fun, as Grace Jones would say.

Thankfully help is at hand. Literally. The manual for Geist is exemplary, in all but two factors: It does not have bookmarks and it does not have an index.

It is probably one of the most thourough and well thought out manuals in existence - in fact - a lot of what it propounds is relative to not just drum programming in general, but the whole concept of sequencer triggered drum sampling (which is ultimately what Geist is - a sampler), how things are triggered, why they should be triggered in that way, alternatives for triggering. It sounds complicated, but it is not. It is very straight forward - taught by the best teachers in the school.

And the best part is: soon, mayur_FX has said that he will include the bookmarks and index. Mayur is the chap responsible for the original, I believe. Such attention to detail. Such a flair for explaining very difficult topics and concepts and making them easy for noobies like me to not just understand, but exploit.

I think I might have jumped off the high end here in response to your question and body-slapped noisily on the blue-briny. Oh well. Ouch.

codec_spurt - wow, just happened on this thread and read that.. thanks for the compliments - they mean a lot! I will update the manual soon and add bookmarks, it was an oversight not to include them originally.

And also thank you for providing this cool stuff for free 8)

I should also add that, having just completed a preset pack for Cypher/Fusor (which will be released soon and is the most arduous sound design project I've ever done), it is really amazing of you to provide a 128-preset Strobe bank - I doff my cap to you sir.

codec_spurt - here's a freshly baked Geist manual PDF with bookmarks. I've put it up as a single download for now - it will be rolled into the next update of course 8) Enjoy! Please let me know if there are any issues.
