Nope, works on iPod touch and iPad too. No iPad-specific version so just runs at x2 size on the iPad.

I have to add that I also find the marketing jargon on their product page for Figure to be quite funny... See: http://www.propellerheads.se/products/figure/ especially under the "Song and Mix" tab. Reading that text alone should make it clear that this app was not primarily designed for musicians or producers.decalogue wrote:I like Figure, it's a lovely toy.![]()
Unlike those who're stuck in old paradigms and hope that Props would make an effort to port the Reason rack to iOS devices, I applaud that they choose to instead explore new terrain and go for such stuff that's specifically designed for portable touch screen devices.
Let's see things for what they really are here. Figure 1.0 is the first version, a little test pilot so to speak, for things to come. Personally I hope they'll add a lot of available in-app purchases rather than trying to develop Figure into a more complex app in the $10 range.
I see almost every kid these days with an iPhone, and I think it's great that Props target that market, by designing "toy" stuff for ordinary people rather than "serious" stuff for spoiled music producers. Figure is a "slice of Reason on your iPhone", and we don't really know yet what the future holds. Maybe they'll add other such "slices" as separate iOS products after they've tested out this concept? Maybe that's even their longterm direction here, having multiple people connecting their iOS devices and jamming together as a band?
Unlike what many people seem to think, the Props are not just some marketing guys who try to look cool while they trick everybody to buy their products. They're true innovators and music industry entrepreneurs. I wouldn't be surprised if they had other cards up their sleeves.
For example, consider the reverse possibilities: that they might install Figure as a device in the Reason rack. And having a separate desktop Figure soundset designer in a Reload-like fashion, with some kind of menu pack-and-export item in Reason.
No matter what possibilities we consider, fact still remains that Figure 1.0 really is just a first move and as such it's probably important for Props (in terms of design and usability) that as many people as possible find it easy and fun to use. For $1 nobody can really complain anyway.

Yeah sure. Because tangential conversations are illegal round here. Meanwhile you make one for stuff that isnt just about the announcement of Figure.Tehnik wrote:make another thread for OTHER software/hardware please

I'm actually disappointed that I spent $1 on this useless piece of trash.

I think it's a really nice app, I don't need a full fledged studio on the iPhone because IMO it's a ridiculous concept. having a sketchpad like this however is great and I really like the way it looks and works. I'd like it to be a little more advanced in terms of possibility to save patterns/songs - imagine iMachine capabilities with this interface - that would be great. still - for $1 I really like it.
@whyterabbyt - please go troll somewhere else.

Agreed. I'd like to have some kind of pattern pool as well. In that Figure promotion video, the guy on the subway train starts out with one pattern and ends with another pattern. But without any saving in between that means you can't go back and review what you did earlier. Which seems like a pretty odd concept. Why would anyone want to just jam with something and then throw it away? Seems like a good way to waste time but not quite so good way to invest time. I really hope they'll implement some kind of save/load functionality in the next update of this app.Tehnik wrote:I think it's a really nice app, I don't need a full fledged studio on the iPhone because IMO it's a ridiculous concept. having a sketchpad like this however is great and I really like the way it looks and works. That's a good joke! Nice one!decalogue wrote: Unlike those who're stuck in old paradigms... I applaud that they choose to instead explore new terrain...
It 's not exactly what I call a new terrain what they're exploring, they just follow the Korg path, a cheaper way.
Do you mean they are or they were???decalogue wrote: …They're true innovators and music industry entrepreneurs…

It's refreshing that they take slices of the Reason code and transform it into new products for the touch screen iOS devices, rather than just port them "as is" with some slight adjustments. I like that they're modern and thinking "new products", "new applications", "new markets", etc than just digging a deeper hole where they stand.J.C wrote:It 's not exactly what I call a new terrain what they're exploring, they just follow the Korg path, a cheaper way.decalogue wrote: Unlike those who're stuck in old paradigms... So a question to all of guy saying "It's a slice of Reason":
Honestly: Which part of Reason do you recognize in this App?
I'm not saying that they lie, but... come on...
Or we were using different Softwares both called reason
