Sorry for the necro bump.
Just wanted to vent at Dune. I cant believe anyone would pay 139 dollars for it, and I'm proper miffed with Computer Music for giving it their "performance award".
.... because it's shit.

Totally disagree. Dune is a great synth IMO and well worth $139.condra wrote:Sorry for the necro bump.

I'm probably the only one to think this, but I was somewhat underwhelmed by Imposcar 2. I should say, yes, I had the original, and I upgraded, so it's not that it was a bad sequel. But we're talking overrated, not outright bad.
How long did that update take to come out? They pretty much added unison, ring modulation, and an extra LFO. Sure there were a few other improvements, like better PWM implimentation, but it felt distinctly underwhelming to me. I'm not a huge fan of unison, though I use it from time to time AND it was a gorgeous and very well tweakable unison. But really I prefer the sound of Imposcar's gritty oscillators and filter drive without the blurring that massive unisons create. Then there's the preset bank... It's an all-out unison-fest...
Maybe I'm just sour because they didn't add osc. sync (seriously, sync effects on the already gritty, tearing Imposcar oscillators could have blown my mind) or more PWM-able waveforms, but it just felt a bit of a letdown to me, after the hype and protracted wait.
In general, though, I have to say I love all of my synths. Can't get enough of them
It's a good time to be a synthesist

Is that really necessary? For saying he likes something and then saying he doesn't like it?Teksonik wrote:But only 4 posts ago you said..........condra wrote: and Synth 1.... shit.

Plus, maybe he meant Sylenth1.

What version was reaktor on when this thread was started ?
Cos its pretty amazing now.
And DUNE is far from shit.
I never understand the point of threads like this.
But I guess there has to be balance, with countless "What are the top 10 synths"
Anyway, back to 2007

On topic:
Zeta+. Either version.
I get that it's a full featured synth, and it could do a lot of things other synths couldn't when it came out, but those days are gone. IDGI. What's special about that synth?
Omnisphere. Sour grapes maybe.
On the other hand, a resynthesis engine that's a ROMPLER? Why would anyone... I mean. Huh. IDGI.
Sylenth 1.
Pfffffffffffffffffffft. I honestly think this thing is only popular because it's popular. If you're not doing trance IDGI at all.

Sorry, bad day at work. I have this overwhelming desire to snap someone's neck but apparently that's "illegal" or some such crap....go figure...SadPuppyBlues wrote:Take it easy, man.![]()
Anyway I think it's pretty apparent at least to me that the guy is just trolling so.....off with his head....with a very dull blade...

That reminds me:mcnoone wrote:Every one of these threads needs the disclaimer.

Sometimes I need to back away from always wanting the most technically superior synth, because music is more about taste than stats.

To think that the caster used this valuable card to post a pointless flame! Ah well. Another example of why I consider "let's you and him fight" threads to be worthy of a lock.bmrzycki wrote:
