There is no doubt that this is a great synth.
But i really wonder why Tone2 choose to present the synth like this !

When announcing a synth as classic analog synthesizer then why not make a demo that show these qualities with some old scool sounds without FX

There really is something german to this demo :)
They just can't let the eighties go, ha-ha

I'm drowning in good synths, but if i choose to buy Saurus it should be because of the, as it seems simple interface.
My go-to synth the last 10 years has been Vaz 2010 for the exact same reason and because not many synths has giving me a better old scool sound than the Vaz.

Looking forward to try the Saurus demo

I think the hype and pressure from a 43 pages (at the time) long thread forced them to make this very varied demo. For me, what makes Diva the diva, is that you can use a simple saw wave with a simple filter and it will sound great. Most VA's requires multiple osc's, some mad tweaks and maybe even unison to get this effect.
My test to see if a synth is "analogue" (got to love that term eh..) is if it easily can make the sounds of early goa.. :)
One thing to remember though: Diva simulates certain specific synths. I don't think Saurus is doing that, it just goes for "vintage" (again, another funny term these days).
I have synths with more advanced UI's (lots of knobs and options - Diversion ) and those with less. Some, like my new toy, Blade, are more like tweak and listen, but there's always room for another standard moog layouted synth! Especially one with such a clear ui. I think even Diva can be too complex sometimes . I would prefer if there was just five different dll's with one original synth each.
Anyway, CAN'T wait for demo! So come one guys! Help me get another member in my VSTi family :) All my synths and effects are waiting for the little new one to arrive

I will discuss with Bastiaan if we need to delay the release of Saurus till next week, since a lot of people critisized the mp3 demo for beeing 'too modern' and 'hifi'. It looks that the people expected a different demo song which is more lo-fi and dirty.
We will rework the mp3 demo and provide a new one.

Beside of that it appears that most people did not take the time to listen to the song completely, since the vintage stuff was placed in the middle. Maybe the mp3 demo is also too long.

Hehe, yes... 21min for the demo song is very long and eventually people miss some of the parts later in the song.
I would split the demo-song so people get a better idea how it works in different styles.

After the release I would make a "Demo contest" and put some of the best on the website. Different styles like Trance, Ambient, Pop,...

Post

To be honest, the audio demo is a bit long.

I suggest splitting and re-arranging into parts that share similar sounds/feel and maybe have one main demo to show the direction meant with Saurus aka what is Saurus mainly intended for and/or expected from.

With the other demos showing off some more diverse and different aspects of it.

Edit: 4damind beat me to it! :P ..A sound design or audio demo contest would be lovely! :)

Please release it today...some of us like exactly that sound!

The audio demo is not bad! Not at all! It's great! But this synth seems to be advertised as vintage emulation. That's why many people (including me) expected cheesy prog-rock moog solos :hihi:
The audio demo shows quite the opposite: Dancy sounds with really hyped high end. That's not a bad thing, just not what I'd expect from a vintage emulation.

Cheers

+1 really looking forward to its release.

I listened to the whole demo track and I liked it. I really wish to try it SOON!
Don't delay the release just because few people didn't like the audio demo. I think that rather than releasing more demo songs, it would be much better to let people try it out by themselves.

Exactly...very impressed with the demo...this synth is a monster...amazing sound variety...WOW...instant buy for me!
...no I don't work for Tone2 :hihi:

Why not prerelease it for us who are already interested Marcus :)

Post

Just release the blighter already will you !! Don't delay it because a few peeps hate the demo sounds...some of us are ready and waiting with open wallets. Delaying it to do a new demo seems crazy.

Here's an idea: Just cut the current demo up into different sections and post each. If it's ready to release now, it seems unfair to delay it for a week just to make a new audio demo. C'mon guys...get with it already !
