Many people/studios make modern music with 30-40 year old sought after synthesizers.
If you listen to AND reward criticisms by delaying the release then you give power to negativity, its just that simple. And ignore the positive comments, not a good company example to set or ideal to take.
Of course the decision is ultimately yours to choose.

diva came out without presets and without demos.....that's how a synth should be judged -HANDS ON.. judging vintage feel on demos filled with supersaws and wobbles is pontless.
what i can hear in some of these demos though(in some punchy basses )is that there is no noticeable filter feedback lag ....and that's the important thing that needed to be addressed in VAs vs real analogs.
that's the main reason why Diva was such a breakthrough....that and the non aliasing FM too....so any synth that addresses these 2 issues gets my interest.
release a usable demo and lets put it to the test. no demo is gonna make the synth better or worse..(unless u change something in the synth too.) and i bet u would have better demos within a week by users.
make a a new contest....best vintage demo gets a free copy. that would be fun.

btw, I think what was said was "True Analog Modeling Technology", I think our interpretation of that being Vintage is 'our' interpretation and I guess any reference to that 'other synth'.

Markus, just pull the trigger and release it. If you have the confidence int he new instrument, just let it go public for people to demo and buy.
It's just pointless to take any notice of some criticism of a few sounds.

Why on Earth would a synth be delayed to redo a demo song. Does redoing the demo mean that you first have to recode the synth? I don't see the connection.

Whilst I agree with you in principle Echoes, and I do think it should be released regardless......some ppl may just listened to the demo reel before they decide to even try the demo of the software itself, and I guess its those first impressions Markus may be trying to avoid, for those who didn't' like the demo song.

This is all it's about.
They could simply get a few simple sound demos going without needing to delay a week. Or, they could just cut up the existing sound demo into smaller chunks. If part of the issue is the length of the demo, then why not modify people's perceptions by cutting it into smaller chunks?
Neither of the above solutions require a one week delay. It's a bit insulting to have contributed to this thread and waited all this time, only to find out that the criticisms of a few people could mean unnecessary delay.

But those impressions get made regardless of whether the trial version is available to download for those who are interested. How does preventing people from downloading the demo change the perception of those who don't want to download the demo? See what I mean? You can release the synth and make new demos the next week or any time you want. There is no logical connection unless they want to make new presets before the demo can be downloaded. And this may well be the case. I think it was just an emotional reaction to some criticism. Punishment for some not being blown away.zvenx wrote:Whilst I agree with you in principle Echoes, and I do think it should be released regardless......some ppl may just listened to the demo reel before they decide to even try the demo of the software itself, and I guess its those first impressions Markus may be trying to avoid, for those who didn't' like the demo song.

This variation in opinion can't be avoided though, everyone will have different tastes and any new synth will be subjected to all different tastes, even more so for just audio demos because that gives the user no freedom to experiment, they are stuck judging the style provided. This is even less possible to please everyone. The best way to go I think is to release a trial version right away, presets or no presets, so that people can tweak it themselves. Of course audio demos are good to but should compliment, not be anyone prime method to judge.
And I think the trial version is much more important especially in the case of tone2 products. For one, the design is usually very good and easy to work with. I especially like how every single parameter is exposed for automation in tone2 synths, even things like waveables in ElectraX and modulations sources and destinations. This means you can actually set up hardware control templates for things like automap and Kore where you don't need to touch the mouse at all, so its great for sound design. Also the cpu is always very low so they are good for basic synths where you can add plenty of your favorite effects and use it for lots of minor parts without having to bounce. But these are things you experience by actually playing with it.
Relying on an audio demos isn't wise, especially with all the hype since it sounds just like ElectraX (not necessarily a bad thing, tone2 filters are very good). But it's the workflow that will appeal to most which is a personal thing between user and synth.

I totally don't see the logic in delaying a week for new demos, unless they found a bug somewhere
Just chop up that demo clip and post a bunch of shorter clips, that should be the way it was handled in the first place. How hard can that be for sound engineers? 5 minutes?
Actually they must be already separate clips, so what's the problem here? I don't mind the dance demos, just want to hear the instrument solo, which I could easily do with a working VST demo version
I wanna see the CPU meter!
