I agree that when I see people selling the free ableton intro or lite discs i laugh, but if people are dumb enough to buy not much I can do.

This is a great move for ableton to generate some buzz after the live 8 failure/ premature release. Since I don't use soundcloud it does not really affect me, but hopefully more people will jump on board so they can pay the new folks they've hired and make 9 the best release so far.

Ableton is really good about making smart joint ventures with other companies. Somebody over there is earning their paycheck

I've meant that you can open another project, make 8 MIDI tracks, bounce them to audio and then you can use the other 8 audio tracks in your previous project.

I'm no expert in Ableton (but I have much sympathy for it) and I don't know how you can bounce the track there. But it should be possible even in the Lite version. Maybe someone other can help you.

Regarding the drum rack, I don't know, I haven't seen one. But there's some simple drum sampler called "Impulse" in Live Lite.

It's, of course, very limited but it's enough to have some fun

Simply load some loops and trigger them with your keyboard or something

And there is A LOT of music out there wich was recorded with way less than 8 tracks etc.
It's definitely enough to make "good" music

This is pretty cool marketing tool for soundcloud and ableton , full/suite live 8 users get soundcloud pro account , soundcloud users get live lite 8 free . Alot can be done with 8 or less tracks .

Ive received it two days ago. But gmail put their mail into the spam folder.

Btw i used the link, download/installation/authorization workded fine.

I guess they are sending licenses gradually so to avoid everyone downloading the installers at the same time.

Strangely enough, I haven't been receiving soundcloud newsletters, and I clicked "once a day." Hmmm...

The wording implied you could sign up after the announcement for the newsletter and still receive the download.

I didn't receive a mail so have contacted their support.
