No, I've tried with both external MIDI and virtual keyboard with the latest Reaper release and is working fine here!braj wrote:CoolI don't have an external KB, only using Reaper's virtual one on the lappy. Maybe that is the problem?
Is every other synth working fine?
EDIT: please be sure to copy the "Crisalys_DEMO" folder from the archive in your VSTplugins folder. Does this solve the problem?

I relaunched Reaper and it is fine now, not sure what was going on. I'm a little confused how the sequencer works, can you explain?MaxSynths wrote:No, I've tried with both external MIDI and virtual keyboard with the latest Reaper release and is working fine here!braj wrote:CoolI don't have an external KB, only using Reaper's virtual one on the lappy. Ug, sound stopped again, I don't know what the issue is. All other synths work fine. It was open just a couple minutes, does it time-out?

Please take a look at the included manual. I think everything is explained there (the manual includes pictures so I think it's easy to understand how the sequencer(s) works by reading the description in the manual). BTW feel free to ask if you have any specific questionbraj wrote:I'm a little confused how the sequencer works, can you explain?
No the demo is fully functional with random noise. Maybe it's a drop out problem caused by hi CPU usage. Crisalys could be very demanding on CPU!braj wrote:Ug, sound stopped again, I don't know what the issue is. All other synths work fine. It was open just a couple minutes, does it time-out?

Yeah this laptop is not exactly a CPU performance champ

Yeah it's multitimbral midi out so you can use it in a few different ways. The dev is really responsive to FRs as well. it's evolved quite a bit since the first beta and it's still in RC stage so probably worth keeping an eye on.braj wrote:Yeah I wish I had the $70 to get it before the sale ends, though it isn't the highest sort of priority for me. I'm playing with the demo though and it looks really unique.musikmachine wrote:You can do that with Vortex sans chords just by routing all the sequences to the same instrument then trigger them as you want. Andys working on some stuff with sub sequencers and pattern chaining so it should get better in that respect. Atm it's better for short musical phrases although you can get lots of variation with the pitch triggers and performance controls.braj wrote:Yeah Vortex is cool, but not doing the same thing, though maybe you can make it with some fiddling. Pattern Arp is really cool because you can just finger part of your sequence and it will play maybe just the bass, or just the melody, or bass as melody, or chords higher, or lower, so many variations you can do in real time, improvising based on one set pattern, so you maintain a constant feel but with huge variety, I can't recommend this thing enough, it is very very nifty. I really play more than I record, and all these arps I fiddle with are really for that.
One thing you should know about Pattern Arp Plus, it doesn't work when the sequencer isn't playing (unlike most arps). So you won't hear anything unless the sequencer is running and there is some midi input.

Well Pattern Arp Plus doesn't work in Studio One, I can rewire Reaper to use it but that is very clumbsy and I still have to save the midi file and manually import to Studio One>
Does anyone know of anything that works the same way, and/or any developers care to take this on?
I would love to have this sort of arp integrated into my DAW.

I can't get it to work in Reaper either. I also tired Vortex which crashed Reaper and then wouldn't close.braj wrote:Well Pattern Arp Plus doesn't work in Studio One, I can rewire Reaper to use it but that is very clumbsy and I still have to save the midi file and manually import to Studio One>

It is a little bit confusing getting started, are you clicking the little clock icon (it won't auto-run without that) and then the 'on' button (not the 'on' button of the far right, the once near the middle). Are you using the demo or full version? Once that is set you just finger chords, first in plays the top arp line, second the second, etc. So you can play any note first, high, low or whatever. With one simple pattern and different fingering you can get really dynamic results that sound nothing like a conventional arp. It is really really cool. I never got the demo to work before I ended up just buying it and hoping for the best and I'm glad I did. Just now it doesn't work in Studio One, and rewiring is not so fun for my workflow.munchkin wrote:I can't get it to work in Reaper either. The clock icon it to the right of 'rate' in the play section, I didn't even consider clicking it for the longest time.

Thanks for the advice. I'm trying the demo which doesn't seem to trigger any of the synths I route it to in Reaper. I have Alchemy on one track and then this arp (as a vsti) on another. Sending arp to Alchemy - should trigger sounds in Alchemy. It makes some beeping noises but won't play any of the patches in Alchemy. Midi send/receive in Reaper set to "all". Arp midi set to 1.braj wrote:It is a little bit confusing getting started, are you clicking the little clock icon (it won't auto-run without that) and then the 'on' button (not the 'on' button of the far right, the once near the middle). I'm able to trigger Alchemy using a midi file on the arp track so the send is working ok - just not the arp.
