V'ger wrote:Shortcircuit2 has a great GUI and does all you want except drag from host because it works from a database, but the payoff is a great built-in browser with search and preview function, even directly on the relevant audio output (if you have set to replace sample) which is good to audition sounds 'in situ'.

Can this create sfz files that can then be imported into other samplers?

I don't know. I've never tried it, but the ONLY plugin that I've ever heard of being able to really do it, is Wusikstation.

Thanks.I did have a word with I think the dev of Wusikstation and he said it does allow for the creation of sfz's via it's GUI.
I thought I may have found an alternative in shortcircuit.
Think I will download the demo version of Wusik and see if it works, take the plunge and buy it if it does allow the creation of sfz.

Yeah, sounds smart--there's a sale on right now, and it's really cheap. :-) I would buy it for the sale price for that feature alone. I've looked and looked and there just isn't much out there that allows creation of SFZ files with a GUI, and as far as I know, it is the cheapest option too. :-)

The crazy thing is that I've had Wusikstation since version 1, and have always just upgraded to stay current, but have never known about its SFZ saving capability until this week. I actually got depressed when I was unable to find a GUI-based sampling solution that didn't require Challenge Response protection. (Chickensys Constructor has GUI-based Sample mapping for SFZ, but uses C/R and costs $150).

Then, out of the blue, a comment comes up on one of the KVR threads that made me realize what Wusikstation is able to do. :-) Now, I'm letting as many people as I can know of this possibility, because I figure there must be others that have searched and searched as I have, and have come up frustrated too. :-)

Just tried it and it kept hanging in Ableton Live when I deleted and inserted new zones.-I also found the gui for the mapping of samples a bit messy and laborious.
Will have to check out chickensys constructor.

Let us know how things go with Constructor. :-) By the way, which version of Wusikstation were you using? Also 32 or 64 bit? We need to document and bring any bugs to WilliamK's or Asseca's attention, so that we can get them fixed. :-)

Hi,yeah just emailed him and let him know-I was using the latest version of it/32 bit.

Just downloaded Chickensys constructor demo and again it is not too great to be honest-Very cumbersome.Try it and see what you think. It may just be me.
I'm used to Kontakts mapping system and I like it.

That's cool. No problem. I have avoided software that uses C/R or Dongles more out of principal than any other reason, and Wusikstation is the only one that does SFZ mapping and doesn't use C/R or Dongles (that has a GUI interface). The Wusik guys are pretty responsive when it comes to bugs or problems, so I'm glad to hear that you reported it to them. I'm sure they'll fix it if they can repeat it. :-)

Yeah the support was very quick from Wusik- within minutes.
I will try it out on another computer I have just to make sure it is not something weird on my computer causing problems with it.
Try out the chicken sys system,it is a demo download.Would like to hear what others think. could just be stuck in my ways with Kontakt mapping.I did find the Chickensys mapper a bit fiddly.

The suggestions I've got so far are: Shortcircuit, DirectWave, TX16WX, Wusikstation.
Thank you.

Anything else?

Post

Highlife doesn't seem to be multitimbral, but thanks for suggesting it anyway.

Post

Direct Wave = CPU Hog (I have it but I never used)

Wusikstation= Very Good, but i never tried to make custom sounds for it.

TX16WX= A little complex for my taste.

Shortcircuit = Good, but I didn't do much experimentations with it.

HighLife = I like it, but it's good to sample other VSTi. Never tried to make a sound from existent samples.

Post

Thanks for this comparison.

Hi George, does Highlife allow the creation of sfz files from a gui that can be exported for use in other samplers?
