Well, it's also when actual audio and the demo also popped up. In truth the 'shitting' actually was going on very early in this thread, too, it's just that it's very different when no one actually knows anything.

Being a potential customer here.
I have a bug report.
My Saurus demo has no audio anymore. Nothing except the voice over.
It started yesterday.
I load the demo, and the 10minute warning recording plays, then nothing.
No audio at all.
I'll try re-downloading and installing again, maybe that will fix it.

Oh, I just didn't notice the 'post for free software' thing was over. :hihi:

This sounds a bit aggressive and argumentative, but I hope not insulting - there's an implication here that people who like Diva are shitting on Saurus. I don't think that's the case, I think it's more that some people actually just don't like Saurus. I'm only saying this because somehow I think because it's unsaid or at least unheard is actually worse for everyone's interests.
I think maybe next time it needs to be nipped in the bud a lot sooner. Keep it on topic the whole time instead of over 100 pages of toilet paper being waved around.

Not a bug but a demo limitation. The demo only runs for 10 minutes and then stops. To run it for another 10 minutes, remove the plugin in your host and then insert it again.

Damn I missed the 100 page! I hope there is a lolcat there somewhere?!

If you reload the plug-in in your host it should reset the timer. Failing that just reload the stand alone.

I think a longer demo version is being sorted out.

No, it's not that.
I already know about that, and it worked for the first few days.
It doesn't make any audio, except for the warning...when "first" loading it up, now. That's not even after loading it up for anytime at all.

Yeah just uninstall it and re-install it, should sort that out.

Really? So not only there is a 10 minute demo limitation but an overall time limitation as well? That's like a demo of a demo or sumthn..
(I bought it so I don't have this problem but found 10 minutes quite annoying and not long enough to check it out).

Markus: Could you please comment on this. Does Saurus apply an exciter or enhancer (like Akustix) to the audio?

Not, its 10 minutes from time of activation, then it needs to be reloaded.

I don't think there is an overall time limit, at least nothing i've come across.

If it's not giving you the 10 minutes, i'd reinstall, but just reloading it should sort that out.

As far as I know Saurus doesn't have anything like this, even in the behind the scenes code (the T2 "enhancer" stuff is the Psychoacoustic processing in the other T2 synths).

The "Boost" feature in Saurus enables the Psycho-Acoustic processing.

This is from the manual:

"Boost control:
The Boost control found inside of the Volume section will switch on the Psycho
Accoustic feature which dynamically boosts frequencies giving an enhanced boosted sound without drastically changing overall output volume."

It was also mentioned in the feature list at the OP of this thread:
Bastiaan from Tone2.com wrote:
Key features:

- Switchable (on/off) Psycho-Acoustic processing mode
BTW the manual could be usually found in the installation directory (called "Saurus.pdf").

On Mac in Live... I get 10 minutes, then I delete the instance and re-insert a fresh instance and get another 10 minutes... except sometimes that does not work and I have to quit Live and restart (or rescan plug-ins?). It is inconsistent.

Kriminal, i don't think you've read the entire thread? :? I can proudly say that i followed it from start and that i've read every post here
Tone2 put some high claims with their first FAQ (i read it's been changed now?). This has by the way been shown several times in this thread, but no real response from Tone2 or some other people.
Anyway, once the audio demos were out it turned out their claims wasn't exactly true and if you put such a high stake on the table you better be ready to loose it.
For me that felt like they had a product that couldn't compete with this "competitor" so they decided to downtalk it instead. That's really low in my eyes and totally unacceptable. And that's why i've kept posting in this thread.
Only a very few have actually said that they didn't like the sound. What has been said much more though is how it doesn't sound/behave much like an analog synth. And since that was how it was marketed like, it warrants for some complaints, don't you think? My harshest comment was that the most "analog" part of it was the GUI. That was when i just had listened to the demo and tried it for the golden 10 minutes. While i didn't find it to be much of a threat to "a competitor" in terms of analog sound/behavior, it did sound pretty darn great! The price makes it very tempting and i was about to toss a coin if i should buy it or not.

About urs posting.. Well, with the original FAQ (like posted here on this page or a few back) saying something about "the filter technology discussed here at kvr lately".. who did that discussion involve? Well, i followed that thread as well.

With that in hindsight i think it's only fair for Urs to have a comment. In his first post here (i tried to find it, it may have been his second.. but it was pretty early), he said that Markus was a nice guy!
He has NOT boosted his products here apart from his signature.. but come on  If i start a company making plugins and edit my signature for a slogan, should i have to go back to every damn post i've made here in competitors thread and remove them? (I know you haven't commented on this .. i think )

Then some people like Maxsynths set the tone. I know he apologized for his wording but the hostility remained.
For some/that reason the thread turned into a "we vs them" mentality and at least for me that is when the intellect packs his or hers things and leaves.

Im not on either side when it comes to "crowd vs crowd". So while i wont participate in the sandbox and throw catshit on others, i do want it to be a fair game

(should anyone decide to reply to this post, please honor my wish and not splitting it up into tiny quotes)
