This is from the manual:
"Boost control:
The Boost control found inside of the Volume section will switch on the Psycho
Accoustic feature which dynamically boosts frequencies giving an enhanced boosted sound without drastically changing overall output volume."
It was also mentioned in the feature list at the OP of this thread:BTW the manual could be usually found in the installation directory (called "Saurus.pdf").Bastiaan from Tone2.com wrote:

That about sums it up, well done Crack. All the valid criticisms were just about buried under a load of hogwash. And in this case, I felt that most of the dirt being flung came from the Tone 2 Defenders, as it were. They tried to accuse those with valid points of trolling, and to turn it into a personal issue, and it didn't work. That's why I'm really thankful the mods were either asleep or extremely lenient.
Besides, I bought the damn thing anyway, and am really enjoying it. It's not Diva, but then, I already have Diva. It's got a very nice sound all its own, and a few twists that make it stand out. I did a quick track yesterday that sees Diva and Saurus side by side, in sweet harmonious joy.

yea, you read the entire thread yet you're still trolling. Why dont you repost ie. Ingonator audio demos to "prove" how crap Saurus is ? Yea, you can't because after 100 pages you're still trolling.Crackbaby wrote: Anyway, once the audio demos were out it turned out their claims wasn't exactly true and if you put such a high stake on the table you better be ready to loose it.
Audio demos created by community (ie. Ingonator) actually show that the quality is actually very nice, or at least some people will happy using Saurus. If you take CPU uage / sound quality into account - you may even like Saurus more than Diva. Why ? Because comparing these two synths is not like comparing 10 % cpu usage to 15 %. It's more like 7 % vs 50 %. And that is a huge difference.
Actually, taking cpu usage differences these two synths should work together very nice in the project. If you expect stunning quality and don't care about CPU (or you can freeze track - quite often you can't) - Diva is your friend. If you want to throw just good synth on other 5-10 channels - Saurus is your friend.
After all, I bet that in the mix you won't be able to tell which part is diva, which part is Saurus. Why ? Because still it's more about the musician , producer than synth.
ps. yea, ten minutes demo seems little bit too harsh. It's like one minute sex

Well, some still don't get it, apparently. *sigh*
DNA, valid criticisms are not "trolling". Who do you think you're defending here? It's quite clear that Saurus is not an accurate model of analogue synths. It can get close, yeah, but "close" is not what was suggested by the marketing blurb. What's so supremely difficult to understand about that? We're not talking about the sound, but the CLAIMS vs. the sound, and the ham-handed attempts to bad-mouth other developers.
I personally couldn't care less about whether it's a totally accurate model or not. I already have Diva, don't I?. Heh, stick that in yer pipe and smoke it.
Off we go again, wheeeeee.

My question is - why people are so sensitive about "marketing blurb" but only when it comes to tone2.com ? Most developers use "nice, marketing words", use hiperboles to describe their product yet some people on kvr only analyze each word that tone2 writes. There's a difference between subjective opinion (ie. "i don't like filter resonance in synth x, because ....") and just bashing synth, bashing company.ariston wrote:Well, some still don't get it, apparently. *sigh*

Example ?
"ACE belongs to a new generation of synthesizers developed with the latest, fastest computers in mind. " (official website)
So, just because it uses a lot of CPU ("developed with the latest, fastest computers in mind") it belongs to the new generation of synths ? Nice. So then, my Synthmaker plugin will use constantly 100 % of your CPU and it'll belong to even newer generation of synthesizers ?
"Enter the legend !". (that's the Xils-Lab poly KB - header )
it took me like 2 minutes to find this - everyone puts some nice "marketing crap" in the product description. if you're bashing tone2 for their marketing blurb then why not to bash everyone else ?!

Tone2 didn't just use hyperbole though. They chose to compare their offering against the perceived failings of other synths with a slightly laughable set of waveform images and, for this thread, in terms of CPU usage and optimisation with other, albeit unnamed, synths. I don't think it's hard to work out why that went completely off the rails.D N A wrote:My question is - why people are so sensitive about "marketing blurb" but only when it comes to tone2.com ? It was unnecessary and counterproductive, especially when you consider that the sweet spot for a synth like Saurus is not really vintage emulation. Frankly, for the relative CPU hit, I'm inclined to stick with Ultra Analog - on a Mac at least, the AAS synth has a lower hit - for vintage-style stuff or bite the bullet and run Diva. Saurus seems to fit better as an alternative to something like Sylenth, and I'm sure it will do well on that basis.

What's wrong with this statement? It references using advances in processing power to achieve higher fidelity. This is not a marketing blurb, it can be measured. Doing audio rate modulation without digital artefacts. No lie or even an embellishment there. And it doesn't even add "... not like those other synths we could mention."D N A wrote: Example ?

To reiterate, I feel Tone 2 brought this on themselves. One of the reasons I enjoy KVR is that we're allowed to call bullshit when we see it, and that this kind of lame attempt to discredit a competitor doesn't go by without culling the shit storm it deserves.
And to think that it was totally unnecessary... Saurus is a fine synth and should speak for itself.

Who's trolling who?
In their marketing and in a couple posts early in this thread, Tone2 used innuendo and insinuation to invite obvious comparison with one particular competitor. They must surely have been able to foresee the inevitable consequence.
That's trolling.
That they refuse to admit any wrongdoing in the ensuing fiasco, and are now hilariously playing the part of the injured innocent party, is an insult to everyone's intelligence and further trolling.

100% agree with you..D N A wrote: everyone puts some nice "marketing crap" in the product description. if you're bashing tone2 for their marketing blurb then why not to bash everyone else ?!
As i said earlier, Diva and Saurus can sit side by side in a mix no problem. I have them open right now in a new track.Maybe some of the people posting here should try it one day (ACTUALLY MAKE MUSIC)
I totally agree with D N A though, it seems no matter what the Tone2 guys do they're gonna get bashed around here.
Simple - try it, if you dont' like the synth (demo) leave it and stick with what you got.. IT AIN'T ROCKET SCIENCE
