Anyhow regarding Diva it came down to 'can I use what I own in this DAW' and before I was thinking 'no' but now (at least for today while the stars are properly aligned) it seems to be working swell

Actually the RAM meter has been worrying me more so than the CPU meter. I only have a 32 bit system right now and it hovers around half with not much going on. Reaper's metering definitely seems to give more info and seems more responsive than S1's.

Does anyone know if Impact can save samples with the project so it doesn't care if the original sample folder is missing later?
I have some very bad memories of projects with missing samples and I really don't want to spend my time searching for moved folders. Same question goes for the Open Air IR reverb..

To quickly copy all external files used in your Song to the Song's Media folder,
[Right]/[Control]-click in the Pool and select Copy External Files from the pop-up menu. I don't know if that includes files used by S1 plugins, try to see if they are copied to the pool. If not, you could just drag and drop them there as you use them, although this is a bit tedious.

I've actually adopted the sideways panel as the most common way to display plugs, it just really grew on me, but yeah, some people don't particularly like it. But (obviously) it's optional... so my suggestion to anyone who doesn't care for the side panels is to just don't use that mixer view? The other more typical vertical view is there also and will stay that way unless you change it.hibidy wrote:@mixer/S1: I'm the opposite. I hate the way fx are listed in the mixer and love on the fact that they are just at the top of the per-item track. In S1, they are to the side........significantly more distracting to me.
Reaper did the same thing in V4, added optional side-car views for mixer channels. The key word there is "optional".
They can (I think?) all be changed to whatever bindings you want. There are also command mappings in there from PT, Cubase and similar if you're more familiar with those.I also don't like the key commands (they seem very awkward compared to most hosts I've used.

Well the developer of CK Pattern Arp Plus was extremely helpful but it seems that his plugin is not getting to the audio outputs of Studio One therefor not registering itself properly? Anyhow I'm hoping someone has some clue how to resolve this. Here is the last note from the dev:
I am not sure what the problem is.
If you already Registered the VST on the PC you are using then it doesn't need to be registered again.
Seems, Studio One has a problem with it.
I don't think i can 'debug' it, because that VST was made with SynthEdit.
It works in all the Hosts that i can test.
Have you connected the Audio Outputs to the main output Signal Bus?
The problem is that StudioOne is not running the Audio/DSP side of the PatternArp VST
That is why it is showing the old text ' Enter Your KeyCode Here ' because the DSP side has not been able to look for your Keycode in the Windows Registry.
I know what is happening, i just dont have any idea how it can be fixed/altered.
It should 'run' just like any normal Synth with Midi Outputs

This arp is incredibly musical, I JUST found and bought it, I really love it a lot (allows up to 8 individual patterns to be played when you finder chords 'first in, first out' with any note length and velocity, up to 64 beats long, incredibly slick arp!) and I really want it to work. I hope someone can help! If you try the demo be sure to click the 'clock' and 'on' buttons or it won't run. If anyone knows of something that does the same thing I'd like to know about it. Catanya does something similar but not the same.

Thanks. I think I've moved on to doing the crossgrade from Reaper and getting from ZZounds.com, if that doesn't work out I'll look into getting Artist first. Thanks for the heads up!Ryan99 wrote:If you want to buy the Artist version, you should contact this guy in the Marketplace forum:

I've been playing with the S1 demo today and I think I will have to make the switch from Reaper too. I've been using Reaper since 2007 but I think it's the right time for me to change the ship.
S1 does everything I want and it does it exactly the way I like.
It does this right out the box. No need to mess with 1000 different options.
S1 workflow/GUI is so much better than Reaper's. Somehow everything is just more polished and well thought in S1. Many of the included effects are so good that I might even sell some of my 3rd party plugins.
I don't want to start a war here. It's just my opinion. For sure there is lot for me to learn about S1 but I got time as my summer holiday starts within two weeks. Lack of sysex is a big drawback for me but I can live with it because
the midi timing is much tighter on S1 at least on my system.
I personally don't like the way the Reaper development is heading. Reaper 4 has been nothing else than a nightmare to me while S1 seems to be the DAW of my dreams.

My BIG issue is Pattern Arp Plus, I can't say how beautiful it is, it is so lovely, I don't know if I can deal with not being able to use it in Studio One
mesmerizing, hypnotic and really beautiful, and musical, not just up/down paterns or dance stuff, but classical piano stuff and not with the limitations that Catanya has regarding how everything is voiced (Catanya is really cool but in comparison it is incredibly static and musically limited)
Is there any way to host the VST in some wrapper inside Studio One that will resolve the issue, or is there a simple VST rewire slave available? Is there a way around this? I'm not kidding, this really could be a deal-breaker for me
There a a thousand and one synths, is this really the only arp of its kind out there? Some major developer should really work on an arp of this type, it is incredibly special, if you haven't tried it you should. The demo limitation and being made in synthedit probably is what keeps it from being more popular.

Yes, out of the box, and it's like a flow gate of productivity never experienced before. I'm using it only for my work with friends in Europe and they are coming to S1 from Cubase and are experiencing the same aftershocks. We tend to look for the things we cared in the previous DAW but if you let go for awhile you find yourself back to basic (composing) with a DAW which doesn't get in your way and ready to go as deep as you need.

OK
I got VSTs to be supported in Rewire mode in Reaper, just had to rescan them, and now I'm able to play the arp, only thing is I hear the audio but don't know how to 'record the audio or midi into Studio One. Can anyone help?

OK well this is a bit convoluted, but since I can rewire Reaper to Studio One, and can at least hear the audio and sync the hosts, I can use the arp in Reaper and render its output to midi there (a big strength of Reapers). Then I can save to a folder, and drag the midi arp file into Studio One, and remove the rewire slave, closing Reaper. The midi file needs to be adjusted because for whatever reason Reaper screws the timing up by a 16th note when it renders it for some reason (part of what worries me about Reaper's midi in general.)
I tried to use LoopBe1 but there are issues with the playback and routing somewhere that I don't think are workable.
At the very least it is better than starting every project in reaper and then moving over to Studio One. If I want to use the arp I will go through this process, though it is a little painful.
Does anyone have a more elegant solution?
