I want the xtSA. Stratty-goodness! (I could live without the humbuckers but they could be swapped out for switchable coils.) I'd like to be developing software to process and/or interpret the direct 6-channel output from these.jkleban wrote:Godin makes an electric guitar with the ghost pickup built in... AQ... yeah it was the FREEWAY SA model... I guess I just associated FREEWAY and LA (as in Los Angeles)...
Mine is the black one... I have had it for about 5 years now.

Actually, the boards aren't that big; they'll fit in most guitar control cavities without much hassle. The 13 pin jack and connected board will take routing, though.AdmiralQuality wrote:I just found out about Graphtech Ghost pickups. You can just replace your bridge saddles with little piezo pickups! Still, you need to make a big hole in the guitar to take the panel. Lot of work. I'd probably go for a Godin that has synth-access built-in. http://www.godinguitars.com/godingman.htm

I'm going the Graphtech route on one of my guitars. Pictures when it's done...

That's more what I meant. Stratocaster doesn't have a big rectangle route on the bottom to take the jack/panel (I don't need the "hexpander" board, just pickups wired to the jack + switches please). I'd take a look at modding my disposable Strat if I didn't need a router to do it right.ew wrote:Actually, the boards aren't that big; they'll fit in most guitar control cavities without much hassle. Someday I'll get a Godin and look into this more.

This looks a lot like exactly what I'm asking for. 13 pin to USB! (Why do they NEVER provide word-clock or sync source input?
)

Hey AQ,
I have the StringPort,
but it is not on Windows,
damn.
The best way I have found is an Ubertar pickup,
into breakout box,
and 6 input soundcard.
Also w/- Ubertar,
it is passive, so no batteries.
MIDI is sucky though.
There r 2 problems--
1.Initial attack of note is a burst.
It takes 2000 samples at 44100 to settle into a detectable tone.
2.Gating. If a string is already ringing out,
playing it again doesn't neccessarily create a new note off/on
It does however work great using a synth driven at samplerate,
which constantly reads the pitch, unlike MIDI which samples and holds the note number once.
Demos soon,
and hope yous r lovin' the muse

Most on guitar MIDI seems to be powered by the +/- 7V wires on the 13 pin connector. But yes, you should be able to have purely passive pickups. I expect most actually are just teensie humbuckers. Though I do think piezos right in the bridge saddles is probably the best all around way to go.

Oh, there are things that can be done here. That's why I'd like to get into more guitar related development. Just need to be able to afford the gear first. Hard to develop for stuff you don't own.

Still a hardware solution, so we're only as strong as its built in pitch-MIDI conversion, and we also can't access the string sound polyphonically to open up all those multichannel processing possibilities.raintalk wrote:Where is the Fishman Tripleplay?
It's also wireless. Can't wait!
But if it's a good converter that's still great news.

Here is a recording of my device.
There wasn't one glitch in the piece, it is as played.

My GI-20 is spare now, hmm. I am not sure that I want to part with it though.

I second your sentiment. The Fishman Wireless Midi was shown at the 2012 NAMM. There is a Youtube demo that is very impressive. It is supposed to be out in June of this year.raintalk wrote:Where is the Fishman Tripleplay?

It comes with its own hex pickup I see. So it's not compatible with all the 13 pin guitars out there.
And USB receiver. So you need a DAW to receive it even if you only want to play hardware instruments.

No info on the Fishman website. Anyone know when these are hitting the market and what the price will be?

The price I've seen is $300, available 6/2012. Was developed by the same person who did Axon.AdmiralQuality wrote:Jefphy wrote:I second your sentiment.
