Does anyone know of anything that works the same way, and/or any developers care to take this on? :) I would love to have this sort of arp integrated into my DAW.
I can't get it to work in Reaper either. I also tired Vortex which crashed Reaper and then wouldn't close. :(
It is a little bit confusing getting started, are you clicking the little clock icon (it won't auto-run without that) and then the 'on' button (not the 'on' button of the far right, the once near the middle). Are you using the demo or full version? Once that is set you just finger chords, first in plays the top arp line, second the second, etc. So you can play any note first, high, low or whatever. With one simple pattern and different fingering you can get really dynamic results that sound nothing like a conventional arp. It is really really cool. I never got the demo to work before I ended up just buying it and hoping for the best and I'm glad I did. Just now it doesn't work in Studio One, and rewiring is not so fun for my workflow.
Thanks for the advice. I'm trying the demo which doesn't seem to trigger any of the synths I route it to in Reaper. I have Alchemy on one track and then this arp (as a vsti) on another. Sending arp to Alchemy - should trigger sounds in Alchemy. It makes some beeping noises but won't play any of the patches in Alchemy. Midi send/receive in Reaper set to "all". Arp midi set to 1.

I'm able to trigger Alchemy using a midi file on the arp track so the send is working ok - just not the arp.
Well, the demo limitation is that it only triggers an internal sound inside itself, so try it on its own track all alone. You won't get some lovely sound but you'll see how the arp works :) But if you get the full version, what you do in Reaper is put it as the first item in the chain on one single track, you don't need a separate track or use any sends.

When you do get it going, start with one finger at a time to get oriented, that one finger will play the top rhythm line. Maybe set it to only play what is displayed (It can play up to 64 steps) then add a finger one at a time, you will hear and see when the notes hit how it all works, it is mighty mighty cool. The first time I got it to work right I had a Yazoo-type sound in Trilian and it was so incredible, a whole song could be made this way, from pop to crazy space jazz, depending what you program and the sounds you use.

Catanya is working well in Reaper I can't get the other arps to work at all. Also d/l RapidComposer which won't make a sound no matter what I do. Catanya seems to be the only thing that works on my system. Why are midi instruments so complicated? It's like you have to balance a cup on your head, juggle and whistle at the same time to get anything to work. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason why they work one minute and not the next.

Is there a simple midi plugin that can play chords and also transform midi loops for song development?

When you add instruments in reaper, make sure the arp is ahead of the synth, but put them on the same track. All my arps work there really well, as well as all the midi effects I've tried.

Thanks, I tried that and it worked fine. I've bought the £8 arp. You can't go wrong at that price.

The Vortex demo hasn't got any presets so I've given up on that. Tried the HG Arp but it seems to alter the sound of the Alchemy preset randomly or change the actual preset. I had a nice arp sequence and Alchemy sound but when I closed Arp and then reopened it again the Alchemy preset changed which makes it seem unreliable. Maybe that's the demo mode or a problem with how it was set up. I set it up like you described so it shouldn't alter the synth preset.

Yeah Vortex looks cool but its not really for me. Glad you got that cool arp :) One thing I have an issue with in Reaper is that if I render the output to midi, it is a 16th not (I think) behind and I have to manually shift everything over, which is no big deal but still, in case it does the same to you it is also what I'm seeing. Maybe it has something to do with how I have midi set up in Reaper though, which with all the different Reaper settings can get a little confusing to me.
