One-Synth-Challenge: General discussion thread

I really really want to recommend a synth for the OSC, as I'll now hopefully be able to join in on the fun. I looked around and this seems to be the place to do it, my apologies if it's the wrong thread.
Anyway, the synth I want to recommend is GTG 44s. This is a tiny but very flexible freeware synth with a huge sound potential if you dig into it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Agree all GTG synths are really top of the line and some of the best free Synthedit synths no doubt. Thing is 1. we must try not to have a VA all the time 2. we've already had two GTG synths on, and 3. also try to avoid Synthedit synths (especially the ones before multicore support) as people always seem to get trouble with it. The last point is not really big as there seems to be at least some issue with almost every synth and some Synthedit synths are just too good to pass.
Of the GTGs I personally prefer GTG K1.3, but how do you find 44s compares to for example Elektrostudio's Model Pro or Gunnare's Minimogue? Both of those are with the latest Synthedit version.

If someday we set a GTG 44 OSC, will you come with a nice track? I would like to know what you have in your mind and feelings
Have a good day
@V'ger
Indeed, my favourite from GTG is K1 too.
I don't have my computer right now, i'm writting from PS3. I'm fixing and cleaning it. Monday it will be prepared.
Have a good day guys

I liked Gunnare's stuff enough to buy all three of his synthedit creations, the sound is similar, but obviously these have more features because 44S is kinda a 'mini-synth'.V'ger wrote:Of the GTGs I personally prefer GTG K1.3, but how do you find 44s compares to for example Elektrostudio's Model Pro or Gunnare's Minimogue? I think what I liked about it was that it's such a small GUI and feature set, but the tones and audio-rate tricks you can get out of it can approach phenomenal, just like the Elektrostudio plugins. It's these limitations that I felt would make a it a good contest subject, as well as it's sound and flexibility. I like to use 44S as a sketchpad for classically structured analogue sounds which I then translate over to Diva.
@IrionDaRonin, I have a bunch of music on Soundcloud, if you want to click on the link in my sig. I'd very much like to get into the OSC contests, now that I have a modern computer

Charlatan was pretty simple, and we all had a blast with it I think...
On an unrelated note, I made a Happy song for the Music Cafe contest this month, and I thought y'all might get a kick out of it

Just pure genius. I missed a few of the lyrics? Can you put them on your soundcloud comment page?gorgorgathgorgorgor wrote:Charlatan was pretty simple, and we all had a blast with it I think...

Continuing from the submission page with Pulse Width Modulation's comment, OSC was the first time I really had to complete a track. I never needed to do that before, and could spend countless hours editing a hi hat.

We don't know if Xhip is stable enough, but this new update looks good: http://xhip.presetexchange.com/xhip/
With 64bit support!
In our opinion it could be a synth for one of the upcoming OSC's.

Definitely a good synth and 64 bit version really helps, but (the older version) it's already been in a synth vote and didn't fare too well but of course things might be viewed differently now.
In my opinion the ideal synth should be cross-platform Mac/PC, come as both 32 and 64 bit versions and one of the best sounding free synths out there + a different style of sound than what was on in the previous competition..
Last comp I really wanted to put Augur as it's in my opinion one of the best non-VA's we haven't yet done and I think a revelation to edit for many, but no 64 bit version put it behind Plex..

We'll keep this in mind V'ger. Augur sounds interesting!V'ger wrote:Definitely a good synth and 64 bit version really helps, but (the older version) it's already been in a synth vote and didn't fare too well but of course things might be viewed differently now.

UI makes it look like there's a lot of sound to be had, for sure.solidtrax wrote:We don't know if Xhip is stable enough ... it could be a synth for one of the upcoming OSC's.
Also, am I missing something or has Jeremy Evers Atlantis not made it to an OSC yet? I guess, it looks like only a Windows 32-bit version at this point, which is too bad. I've recently become familiar with filter section for reasons undisclosed and I have to say I'm really impressed. The The UI is intimidating, but really easy to use.
I'm very disappointed I had some things going on for a couple months including the Sonigen OSC, as I was at least one who recommended it.
Thanks for keeping this competition going V'ger, Irion, and all!
