I'm with John. Make sure you spend some time listening to the monitors you're thinking of buying. Deciding based only on specs and reviews may not leave you happy in the end.
When I bought the pair of Event TR8's that I use, they weren't my first choice when I walked into the store with a couple of CD's to do some listening. But after listening to a bunch of monitors of different sizes by various manufacturers (and keeping my budget in mind), my ears told me which monitors to take home. I walked in expecting to pick up a pair of KRK 5" or 6" monitors and ended up taking home a pair of Event 8's.
Good luck in your search!

The speakers were - together with the master keyboard - the 1st thing I bought.
I went to a store that had a room full of speakers (maybe 50 different pairs?) and you could test all of them. Originaly, I intended to spend 200 EUR per monitor.
After I heard ADAM-A7, I knew that the double price tag was justified (spend 400 EUR/pc.) I think they don't produce them any more, but there should be a successor.
The absolute killer is their ART Tweeter they use. This will go up to 35kHz or so and if you think above 22kHz (or so) you can't hear the difference... Oh man YOU CAN.
R.
edit: I bought them some 5-6 years ago, so I had to look up to support my claim there is a successor. Yep. There is:

Hehe - seems I didn't buy too bad.The predecessor to the A7X, the A7, became the most famous of all ADAM monitors in a very short time.
