Thats a statement I could have made. The first time I saw Iris I thought "Is that a Photosounder VST (that actually works)"? This would be sound designers / fx designers heaven.
Cowbells!

A quick question for Izotope users : is this easy to have only one license for 2 computers..?

What an amazing instrument! :O

My pupils and several chakras dilated when I saw the Youtube vids.

1. It is a pitch scaling algorithm suitable for polyphonic material (monophonic material is also okay).
2. It is a faster version of iZotope Radius algorithm, suitable for multi-track realtime operation (the original Radius is slightly slower than realtime even for 1 stereo track).
3. Just like "true" Radius, it is not a granular synthesis: it is closer to a vocoder, but with many special features, like preservation of transients.
4. Theoretically it can time-stretch, but this is not implemented in Iris.

Yeah, I have to admit I'm lost.

I tried that setting and it didn't seem to change anything :?
Is it possible that you turned Radius RT on for the wrong sample? If you're in the "ALL" view, you could get confused as to which of the 3 possible samples you're turning Radius RT on for.

Here's a step-by-step (from memory as I'm at work):

1. Clear all to get a clean instance of Iris with all default settings
2. Select sample 1 in the upper right-hand corner of Iris
3. Drag-drop a WAV file into Iris
4. Play a chord.
NOTE: the play heads for each note in the chord travel at different velocities.
5. Next to the sample name in the synth panel on the right hand side, directly under the word "CONTROL" you will see the following:
Sample (name of the file you dropped)
Loop (Forward, backward, etc.)
Pitch Resample <===CHANGE THIS TO RADIUS RT
6. Play a chord.
NOTE: the play heads for each note travel at the same velocity.

Does this not work for you?

Hey there -
I've been messing around by loading samples of my own, and noticing something glaring that's bugging me.

I keep hearing clean tones (sounds like sine waves) where there should be none, e.g. during samples of speech, where the original recording is clear and clean with no background noise or hum.

Where is this tone being generated?
and how can I turn it off?

Maybe the sub? Ie. source 4

Here is a sound demo I made this evening using only Iris.
I made a few dozen presets with my personal samples.
I have Alchemy, Photosounder, and Metasynth, there is some feature overlap with Iris, but I think it has its own sound character. Work flow is super fast and easy.
I am still messing with the demo, going to buy this for sure before the intro price offer is over.

Maybe that was it... but I can't reproduce what I got earlier, even with the same sample loaded (it all had to do with whatever freqs I had selected a la magic wand tool). At any rate, I hope that's not par for the course and hope that's easily-turned-off-able.

Otherwise, so far, so good... cool little program.

nay-seven,
As the license is C/R you can use it on multiple
computers. I don't know if there is a limit but
I currently have it on three.

On the SINE wave tone, you must have set a sine sub tone for sound 4 (or loaded a patch that had one) and then when you loaded samples, you didn't do a "CLEAR ALL" to reset the whole synth :)

i like it
i have some other spectral tools but iris is much quicker to use
for a 1.0.0 release the gui quirks i experienced are acceptable

some features i would want to see in a free 1.* update::
{a} choice of individual stereo outs for each of the four parts for routing in our daw. good enough for phatmatik pro good enough for iris :)
{b} possibility to save load & browse presets for the effects at least (sux redialing the same favourite settings all the time when creating new patches)
{c} possibility to save load & browse patches (sample, masks, settings etc) for each individual part. right now it only allows to switch samples per part in the preset browser (when browsing presets click on full browser to open that menu)
{d} some slight refinement of the selection tools especially the magic wand

i may have missed something though as i havent rtfm :)

Some good suggestions. I already asked for the direct outs (or bus
outputs) for the individual pools as part of the beta team, so we will
see. Being able to process them individually with whatever effects
you have in your arsenal would be awesome, imo.

Scott

Very nice synth, great interface!

The one feature I really miss coming from Cameleon/Alchemy is the ability to morph between the four soundsources.

One problem I'm having with the sound though is that there is a really bad noisy click at the attack of sounds when you change them to radius. It seems to almost always be there. As soon as I switch the soundsources to radius, the quality seems to go to hell with this weird attack noise. Quality is set to high.

Anyone else get this?
