braj wrote:Actually I think the bits I don't like about Reaper's UI are actually Window's fault, as it uses some of your Window's theme for it's GUI. But then you can manually adjust those as well (get rid of the white, it looks so bad next to a dark theme like Rado.
does it ever. rados my fav reaper them too.

you know i think reaper gets its ugly title from two things, one, the layout, its like every update they tack on something new. and it just keeps getting more feature creep. reaper needs a complete rewrite from the ground up. that and the other thing that makes reaper such a hated daw is because of the horrid white windows. i mean its truly a hideous sight to behold if you like your daw to look good and prefer dark themes.
i mean, you got this beautiful dark theme gong on and along comes the dreaded white windows. its just soo ugly. there is a way to fix the white windows issue. just use windows classic. and make a theme like the reaper theme then you no longer have the white windows but, be careful, because too much tweaking, and OOPS! now all your browser and other parts of your os are unreadable with the dark window against the dark font. you can see how this could drive somebody nuts.

If Orion didn't cost a bit of cash I think I would have given it more of a shot. Can it act as a rewire slave?

i think that's one of orions product mistakes charging too much for a product that is already beaten by close to every major daw. its certainly not a very popular product either. lastly updates are very few and far between. and fl studio is way more powerful. what orion is really selling is the whole fun factor. its so fun to use and oh so simple too. ive bought and sold it twice. i think rich business model is sell less at a higher price.braj wrote:If Orion didn't cost a bit of cash I think I would have given it more of a shot. i think he would have far more success with orion if it was sold with the same audience its been marketed too. people that like to have fun. instead, its being sold to the professional crowd at a pro price when its really not a pro product. that is, compared to the big dogs. but you know, some people just cant see the forest for the tress, and i think until rich changes his business strategy orion will remain a niche product. i agree 60 dollars and rich might have a very popular product.
simply, not every good developer is a good business man. adapt or die

Yeah I'd buy it simply on impulse for $60.
