I have looked at synth and has two options.

My option is whether I should buy myself a Waldorf Q or a Nord Lead 2.
Waldorf Q is much more synth, but are much more expensive compared to the North Lead 2.
The reason why I hesitate is that I already have a Blofeld and may think that the North Lead may be a better option due to a different character...

Anyone have suggestions on how and why to choose one against the other?

If you can afford the Q get it. It covers all of what the Nord can do and a lot more.

My personal order of preference (having owned all of these) would be:

Nord Lead 3 > Waldorf Q > Nord Lead 2X > Nord Lead 2

Is there a reason that you're considering the NL2, rather than the NL2X? From what I've seen, the NL2X is priced more comparably to the Waldorf Q and the NL2X has better converters and far better patch storage than the NL2.

Q doesn't sound similar to Blofeld. If you must pick one of them, get Q because NL2 is too limited (and I'm not talking about amount of voices, patches, or bs like that) although it does sound fine (and I have owned a NL2X for quite a while).

I don't know why you want either of those synths. If you want a fine "virtual analog" synth, you have software like Aalto and Sonigen Modular which sound at least as good as a Nord Modular, Aspect (if you prefer simpler "semi-modular"), and the unbelievably powerful, flexible, and still little known AnaMark.

If you want a hardware synth for the sound of it instead of the "I don't want to/I can't use a computer" excuse, reconsider your options, seriously, and you'll get an analog hardware synth, not virtual analog.

Heh, funny that i should say this..
But i'd prefer NL2. Not because it's got better synth structure, but beause if I was going for the Q sound, i'd take Largo instead. It can sound exactly like the Q. If Waldorf would build a support for Q sysex files that VSTi(or the company as a whole for that matter) would actually have a future.
