what is the deal with Cubase.net?

Well I still don't have an account there, but I asked my question here and it was answered within minutes, literally, so I think I'll stick with KVR . And yeah, reading cubase.net is rather frustrating anyway, though the same thing seems to happen in many company/DAW specific forums, with the very notable exception of ableton.com/forum. But I've often heard/witnessed that cubase and DP both have a bizarrely rigorous / exclusionary / heavily moderated approach to the world.

I forgot to mention that they could simply link the user databases together so that the registered users could use the same logon information (they'd benefit from already having verified your license/dongle/whatever). They could just have a forum or two that catered to non-registered users even if those were simply read-only. It isn't really hard to do, but not exactly a revenue-generator for something meant for users and not anything officially support but still.

Well, cubase.not is a pile of suck. I always got my questions answered here far faster, without the snarky bs of guys like CB

You can always search over there anyways, then if you don't find it, ask here

@DP. There was one dude over there that gave everyone a rough time. Ignore him and it wasn't too bad. Nothing like the utter 3rd Reich that is cubase.not.

I registered an account there almost 1 year ago. Still waiting for their approval. Sent in my details, my license / dongle number, MySteinberg ID and everything. Furthermore, I registered with my own website e-mail address (which is obviously not a free account, but - even more obviously, a band's website).

Well I've never felt comfortable posting on Cubase.net. It's almost like typing with a gun pointed at my head. You have to be very careful how you word your posts, and you are always left wondering whether you'll get suspended after you click the Submit button.

Bearing in mind that no DAW can tick all the boxes for everyone, it is evident that every Cubase user is going to love certain features an dislike others. However I don't imagine Hans Zimmer--who unconditional endorses Cubase--, posting a feature request or reporting a bug on Cubase.net. Does he just accept that the software is a clusterfeck and live with its many quirks and flaws as he wrestles with the software to get it to do what he wants it to do? Or perhaps he's got a team of monkeys to tell him where he has to click? Or perhaps he's got one-to-one direct telephone support with Steinberg?

Steinberg's suck index is 9/10. It's not only customers saying this: even Steinberg's own devs are leaving the company to create better software elsewhere (Presonus Studio One).
