I didn't realise there were so many Pianoteq haters out there! The track got spammed with hate comments. Also, more disturbingly, people who normally say they love my tracks were posting how much they dislike Pianoteq, and how it makes my music not good. The irony is that practically all my studio tracks on Soundcloud were done using Pianoteq, and they never hated them until I put the words "pianoteq 4 demo" in the title. Weird. Aren't people strange, elitist and hypocritical at times!
That's pretty awful to hear. Although it does prove a point...

....some people need to get their head out of their arse. It will get rid of that "sounds like an underwater piano, totally artificial" perception straight off.

What a bunch of elitist wankers. Thankfully, this sort of thing never happens on KVR. :hihi:

Well there's a fair amount of negative posts on the Piano forum you linked to, alongside the more positive ones.

but I think this demonstrates the sort of elitism that can surround the piano in general (what a pity!). For example I got comments like "come back with this once you've recorded it on a R-E-A-L piano"... but the guy who wrote that has previously said what a great piano sound my tracks have. All of those tracks were recorded with Pianoteq!!!

If you don't tell people what piano you used they can mistake Pianoteq for a real acoustic instrument... but if you tell them it is Pianoteq they start flaming you. No point in being offended or upset - all this shows is the ignorance of the guy who wrote that (and he was just one of many who wrote similar stuff).

Exactly

Extra wow for the background recording feature - just saved my life - I was just noodling and suddenly realised it was sounding good and I might not be able to replicate it but Pianoteq had saved it all!!

People are assholes. You've had a great sounding track there!

I wonder how many of those people were from other companies.

It did happen in the other recent thread, to a smaller extent.

I thought it was sarcastic, this kind of thing happens constantly on this site

"X plugin sounds so much better than Y plugin"

-fails to identify difference in blind test-

Are the other tracks made with pianoteq 3?

Post

Very likely, since headquest just got Pianoteq 4 recently ;)

Could have been pre 3 :P

Well, Pianoteq 2 sounded quite thinner than Pianoteq 3. Version 3 has a lot of important body of the piano sound, very much improved bass and treble, and better resonances.

All my tracks on Soundcloud were done with Pianoteq 3 except :

..."Departures" which was originally done with Reason Pianos.
...And obviously the live tracks, which were done on a Yamaha grand, lol.

Also the harpsichord tracks I recently added were done using Pianoteq (I think it's harpsichords are even better than the pianos actually - completely indistinguishable from the real thing).

My favourite piano in version 3 was the extended version of the Grand C3Is and that's mostly the one I used in the tracks.

I loved K1 Player pretty much, myself. :)

I've not actually explored that one so much (must do so...).

Considering how inexpensive the upgrade was - a lot less than I expected - I think I might now buy the Rock expansion collection - the rock piano is awesome, and the electric pianos are also nice. Anyone else here use them?
