It's not out yet. I mean v3 which is announced here is not available for public. I have v2. To my ear TB Reelbus is in completely different territory and different sounding. Thus i can't say which is better since both are so different. If i am forced to choose between the two i think TB Reelbus would win for me. Note that i am big fan and owner of awesome Sknote products and their top notch support and price.

However TB Reelbus is damn fine tool.

Hey wait..i have advice after all...

They are both VERY cheap...get both Roundtone and TB Reelbus and be done with it :)

Yeah, IMO realbus can't compete. The distortion that realbus introduces is infinitely more obvious and glaring. Roundtone is extremely organic and is probably one of my most used fx plugins to date. Crazy effective for doing peak limiting/compression while warming up a sound. YMMV.
Snare drums samples: the new and improved "dither algo"

Has anyone compared ReelBus V2 to Roundtone V3 ?? :hyper:

I heard that UAD has a new STUDER in the worx (called INTRUDER)

Has anyone compared to it ??

:P

Thanks. Do you have any preferences for master bus settings?

Ok, here are some audio previews for Roundtone v.3 :phones:
(sorry for the file sizes, I'm not going to upload such things as mp3 tape sound samples)

This is the new DolB enhancer.
It is a stereo drums loop (a stereo pair on the kit).
Starts dry, then DolB is slowly increased. You can hear how it passes through a bad spot (you can hear the "swish"), then comes to a sweet spot where everything is really bright but doesn't become harsh like through a static filter. This is a gain of 10dB!

Roundtone_v3_enhancer

This is about the new wow and flutter feature.
The same drums loop start dry, then wow is slowly increased and then slowly back to dry. You can hear the highs smearing (heavy handed here, of course):

Roundtone_v3_WOW

This is fun. It is the new tape delay feature. I slice just one hit from the same drums loop, with long delay and high feedback, and manage the tape machine parameters to get the hit changing. Sometimes I raise the gain to get back the loop running.
Wow, action, emphasis involved here while the loop runs:

Roundtone_v3_Delay

The whole tape machine is in the feedback loop, from input gain, through algorithms, to output volume. This allows to manage the whole sound in several ways, e.g. increase input gain to get more saturated delays.

Awesome
I'm looking forward to the update :)

AFAIK, Roundtone, doesn't feature tape saturation... why?

It always felt very odd to me, that it doesn't.

Is it because you didn't fully wrapped the saturation part with all of the other tape goodness?
It it a CPU issue.. or are you thinking that with all these saturators around, we can choose and blend which one we like at any given situation?

Of course it does, what else??

No it doesn't! It features Super Ultra Analog Tape Goodness and Warmth Physical Modeling Engine, patent pending!
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

wow almost missed this, looks amazing quinto. Great job on the new look and nice new effects cant wait for the update. The delay sounds very cool.

also i am pretty sure it does saturate. Its a subtle effect made to help you enhance your mix. At least that's how I use it and I love it for that. often effects that just add a bunch of saturation are doing more harm than good.

Also the toneboosters tape emulation is actually a very nice plugin but not the same it has its own feel and sound. I find them both great but would choose roundtone over the other if I had to chose one. both top notch though i find it nice to enhance things when it needs to be more upfront about it :D
and roundtone is just perfect to be in everywhere in the mix along with strip:)
