We now have definitive confirmation that those jokes went over two successive heads.

Yes, and that appropriately went over my head at first.

CSR doesn't seem to work in Maschine software. After installation I starte the maschine software and during startup I got the error reports 'CSR Hall crashed during scan (and same with Room, Inverse,...)'
In reaper no problem but since I use maschine a lot in standalone CSR sadly will not be for me.

I still have the "Hall" (and demoed the bundle long time ago - loved it) from the IK's and own VRoom. Both cool, allthough the CSR (among all my other IKM plugins) isn't installed anymore due to some "dislikes" from my computer with C/R plugins.
I wish IKM would change the whole challenge response thing - I'd instantly buy the CSR bundle!
I love the Valhalla plugins (used in EVERY mix) too!

I just bought CSR, I bought VRoom when it came out and sold it. Was not for me.
Not looking to start a fight, but the CSR just works better for "me".

I was trying to figure out when the PCM91 came out, maybe 1996 for the 90 and 1998 for the 91? That's from searching on the SOS site. It doesn't really matter, but all the controversy over what CSR was modeled on got me wondering.
I found a couple more recent threads each of which had misleading information from the IK robots (ikbots?). I think one was something like that the modeled unit had been a studio favorite for decades. I'm paraphrasing other than the decades part. Wouldn't plural need to be two or more decades?
This is just unbelievable. As I was writing, two IK newsletters showed up. Here's some text from from one:
"Classik Studio Reverb, a suite of four high-end studio-quality reverbs modeled after popular outboard classics: Plate, Hall, Room and Inverse, can be yours for just blah, blah, blah until yada, yada, yada. Don't miss out on this incredible deal to get world-class reverb plug-ins modeled after some of the most famous hardware reverb units of all time. Get CSR today!"
That is outright lying! First, plural on classics, maybe they mean classic algorithms of the Lexicon PCM91? That's stretching it, but "modeled after some of the most famous hardware reverb units of all time?" Maybe they think that technically if there's one little thing added from an actual vintage classic, which I doubt anyway, that it would make the statement legally viable, or maybe it's just the osmotic proximity effect of the developer's vintage collection, which I wonder if he had even yet accumulated at the time of coding CSR?
Oh well, my blood pressure's back to its normal high level now. Let it go. Let it go. I still may get them at the $49 less 15% deal. After all, how could I pass up models of some of the most famous hardware reverb units of all time for ten bucks or so each, even if that's not really what they are?

Yeah man... let it go. Either enjoy their sound and figure out how they can help you achieve your dreams or continue nit-picking and not being happy over something you have no control over. Lots of people are happy, lots of people and blah and lots of people dislike it. Figure it out and move on happily.

You talkin' to me? [De Niro Taxi Driver voice]
Yes, I sprung for CSR at JRR, albeit against my better ethical judgment.
But, for $41.65 I'll probably get over it before too long.
This really isn't about how CSR is. I mean it is what it is and what it was, for that matter. As I've belabored, I already have the hall, but I wanted the other three too. Need? Probably not. So, now I'll be able to have TRD plus the Back and White, and all of CSR under just four serial numbers or what ever they call that scheme, instead of one per plug-in like I have installed now.
It is about how IK is fast and loose, and cavalier about the CSR origins, and their marketing. They're kind of having it both ways, if you will, with that annoying can't confirm or deny thing. "We can't say exactly what it was that we modeled or we'll get in trouble with Lexicon, but we can intimate or even claim stuff that we don't have to prove because of part one even though it's contradictory to common developer and semi-insider truths, etc." Then there's obikbot's self-congratulatory thread bumping. "Man, I'm glad we could help you.. glad you like it... etc." (dude, I'm sure you're a nice guy and all, but...) It is pretty funny watching the three stooges playing tag team in the steel cage death matches though.
So yeah, I'm one step closer to having all the reverbs and twelve steps away from having none, if you know what I mean. I can and will kind of ignore the IK world for a while because I got super-saturated marinating in their secret sauces (ick) reading so much CSR related stuff in such a short period of time here on ye olde internete.
Sorry, but I said I'd be back. I will be listening in about 64 bit, jam points, transfer fees and duplicate license issues.
Oh, and I apologize for the lack of Valhalla content in my posts here. That quality speaks for itself and doesn't need or probably even want any help from likes of me, though I does likes 'em indeed.

That's IK, man - some contradictions, some can't confirm or deny and TONS of marketing.
I've been quite critical about IK a while back, especially about the transfer fees, C/R system and invasive marketing / reps' presence on the forum, which I found disturbing more than a few times.
Just to be clear, when I wrote about IK reps not being robots, I referred to the fact that I didn't enjoy dealing with them in the same way, but realise it wasn't well put at all - ironically, obik quoted me...
I came to the conclusion that it is solely IKM's business how they manage their company and I, as a customer, can just decide if I want to own / use their products or not... in the end, I like my IK software enough to compromise on the business model, which I still dislike...
There's no easy way out, if it's a moral /ethical matter, you can either accept to deal with them or not

Thanks for that. I actually read your comment the way you intended at first, but then it seemed to flip in my head with the IK comment. I hope that makes sense. I was just looking at the wayback machine snapshots of the IK CSR page. I remembered that it was expensive, especially by comparison to many of today's prices for similar: $399 in '08. Not that it's real, but it makes me feel better to have paid just a smidge over 10% of that price. Man, you put all that so well. I know it's got to pretty strange to be an internet forum rep for a company like them. The internet forum rep concept alone bewilders me. Okay, I've said way more than enough on all this.
