I'll take your slapback and ask for more.
Whisper to me in your most intimate space,
Dunk me in your darkened chamber, stretch me on your sizzling plate,
Toss me down your endless hall, slam me hard against your tiled walls, I won't hesitate.
When the arrow of time and the bow of space dance in place, in the play of waves rippling over and over to the last ethereal trace I adore, I embrace, for...
To the core, I'm your reverb whore.

Ah - the old "pin the tail on the donkey" trick. Stupendous.
Adds a real kick.

Kick me to the PayPal curb, but mark my words - I vow to buy all the verbs.

Thanks! Felt so good to finally reveal what a verb slut I am - getting hopped up on the Valhalla juice and violating poetic license in every state. :D

@midnight:

You are most nearly correct. Very few truly professional audio engineers constantly pursue various components. It's typical that you have a good plate, a good hall/room reverb, and perhaps a couple of cool niche plugins.

The same holds true for compressors and EQs. It is very wise and a best practice to have two or three good quality components and be able to wield them well. Just because you have 15 guitars doesn't mean you can join any band you want. If you can't play well on a $300 MIM strat, you still won't sound any better on a $1200 USA Strat Deluxe. Capiche?

Nashiville audio engineer extraordinaire, Joe Gilder, often produces incredible tracks using nothing more than the plugs included with Pro Tools. although he owns some high end components by Waves, etc., he's a firm believer in developing your craft, rather than always lusting after a new mic, plugin, outboard effect, etc..

After more than 30 years of experience within various facets of performance/recording/production, I fully agree with Mr. Gilder. BTW, although I'm not affiliated with him in any way, you will learn some great tips from him by visiting his web site, http://www.homestudiocorner.com/
