(I hear you about the concern for updates. Be brave!)

Moving on...
Yet another feature request:
the ability to temporarily turn off your carefully-made frequency seelction to compare it to the unaffected sample. I guess you'd call it a bypass, or an A/B switch.
Currently you can do that by choosing "Select None", then clicking "Undo," but that's clumsy and dangerous.

Is there a forum or news feed where iZotope has posted responses to the FRs or has given any indication that Iris will be getting some of the cool features mentioned here? I know even if they say they have plans its still vaporware until it actually happens but I's still like to hear it from them.
Over at gearslutz, a company rep responded they do have a feature backlog and they plan to add things in future versions. And apparently they are paying attention to feedback in terms of what direction they go with the program.

speaking of which...
I see your KVR name here.
Shpongle is coming to my burg next week. Is it worth catching them in a small venue (more like a dive) with a eh-eh (that's a hand gesture) sound system? It's $25 a ticket... i would think they would sound better in a large venue?

(sorry to be off-topic folks; back to your regularly scheduled program)

Much as I'd like to believe that, I'm sceptical. I remember when Stutter Edit came out; there were some vague promises of feature development then, as well. None of which were ever delivered. So I'd take it for what it is now, and best not hope for something that will likely never happen.

Here is a sunday morning vocal scape with 2 new patches derived from the same vocal phrase I recorded some months ago during an Impro workshop:

About suggestion :
+1 for the A/B switch to compare frequencies (could be extend to a A/B preset btw.)
I would suggest too more automation possibilities, I'm working on a interface with Usine to add physics movements to parameters and could be cool, in a general way, to have control (direct VST parameters or midi learn) for example on :
  • * Switch to each sample view.
    * the 3 Invert selection buttons.
    * the open mix window.
    * the All button
This really help work with tactile screen (or by midi interface of course)

Here a preview of a future video I'm working on: Usine working with Iris :

@Sampleconstruct : great track, as often !

I've experimented with the demo for about an hour now, and I like the ease with which one can drag a sample into the interface and the fast resynthesis.

I think I'm finding that I can't do a few basic things, however. Is there a way to:

1. Select a single freq, or band or freqs without dragging a selection tool? I'm used to using Spear and Morphine and other programs that isolate freq bands. You just click on a band to select it and in Spear, you can CTRL click to select or deselect the ones you want to work on.

2. See the exact freq or band of freqs that one is selecting? The Frequency ruler offers a broad view, and can be set to show increments of 5 hz but I can't find a way to see the exact freq.

3. See actual amplitude of a selected band?

4. Change selected freqs? Shift the pitch or change the amp envelope, etc, of just the selected section? (EDIT: I understand that one can select a band of freqs, detune them, save that as a new sample, load it, remove the band from the original resythesis, and then play both sounds by using Mix. But that seems a bit complicated if the goal is just to hear how a slight change in pitch affects the overall sound.)

For any Kore users who have Iris I made a Kore template for it this afternoon:

I would very much like the Brush in Iris to work like any drawing tool in Photoshop: to be constrained to horisontal/vertical when I press the Shift key.

And, even more important, to allow me to click with the brush, hold down Shift, click in a new spot and get a straight stroke between the two points, click in another spot while still holding Shift and get a connected stroke, and so on.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Hadn't thought of that before, but +1!

The simplest and more coherent update for Iris.
I vote 10+ for it!! :-)

As a Spear user I am wondering similar things. I mean Spear can do a lot of what Iris does, and somethings like mentioned here, better. Of course Iris does some things better too.

yes... this makes me think that if we have plugs that can do "this and also that", it's no use to buy a new one (in a row) that can do "that and also this".... and if we find ourselves well with what we have, why should we buy a new one?

I think it depends on interest.
Development on Alloy has been nonexistent (despite it being good) because of mediocre sales. Gotta go where the money is.

Do they report sales number or are you just speculating? I'd guess the same devs build alloy and ozone and we just saw a huge ozone 5 release.
