Hi,

I'm new to midi and I'm trying to use Shreddage with Guitar Rig in Kontakt 4.

I can't see how to get Guitar Rig into the program.

Can someone give me an idiot guide please as to how to combine these two ?

I don't know which host you are using so I can't be very specific.

You need to put Guitar Rig as an insert effect after Kontakt, just as you would add a compressor or EQ.

When you say 'into the program', are you referring to Kontakt or your DAW? I use Shreddage (in Kontakt), running through Guitar Rig. They are both hosted in Sonar on my computer; you didn't mention what DAW you're recording with.

I've got Logic Pro 9, but I thought I could use Shreddage as a stand alone with Kontakt 4.

Guitar Rig would be the insert effect I understand, but I don't know how to incorporate it into Kontakt 4 or Shreddage.

Excuse my ignorance, this is new to me..

So you're running the Kontakt standalone program and try to run the signal through a standalone Guitar Rig instance, right? I'm not sure that this is easily possible, but I'm never use the standalone versions and I know nothing about Macs. I suppose you're better off just running both Kontakt and Guitar Rig in a host.

AFAIK you can't run Guitar Rig "inside" Kontakt.

Hmm, I don't have any experience with Logic, but I would guess that Kontakt's output is showing up on a channel; there should be a way to insert any effect on the channel. I know it's an old cliche, but it sounds like you'll need to check the Logic manual. Wish I could be more help.

Thanks both for you help, rather than struggle with it all stand alone, I did trial and error my way to the sounds within Logic after effect inserting Guitar Rig so I think I'm off and running..
