Hey guys,

Ive been thinking about this for a few months now and would appreciate some of your opinions.

I currently use FL Studio for beat creation, Cubase for Vocals and mix-downs.

Whenever I take a production to a studio to develop further, I often get 'Woah you made that on fruity loops?'

Now comments like this really make me think maybe I should just switch to Cubase full time but I am so comfortable with FL. I dont mind learning again, its fun anyway but theres always the other side of the arguement that the DAW wouldnt actually make a difference, I mean songs like Now Your Gone by Bass Hunter were made on FL so it isnt a bad DAW.

Do you think I should switch to Cubase full time? Will it give me more 'professional' results than FL?

How about getting Mac and Locig? It is da most 'professionaaal' daw in the world.

Use whatever suits you and you feel most comfortable using.Ignore the DAW snobbery

Thanks Resonator. This is the general consensus however there are still quite a few people argueing the other side, hence why I opened the discussion.

Its probably better (more efficient)for your workflow to use one DAW and out of FL or Cubase ,Cubase would be the best path for you IMHO(because you know it)I guess you need to look at what it is in FL that you use the most in terms of instruments and devices and try and to replicate them with like stuff in Cubase or you could just switch altogether to LIVE or Logic:-)

But FL can act as a VST plugin inside Cubase no? Best of both worlds

Use a kazoo if it suits the song, the tools aren't as important as the inspiration, especially when it is in the illusioned eyes of other people, not about your actual music, why worry what anyone else thinks?

Yeah! FL can be used as a vst and can also be rewired into another DAW or have another DAW rewired into it.

And what are their arguments, exactly? Anything specific or just something vague like "FLS is not as 'professional' [whatever that means]"?

I think you need to use some critical thinking. You will be tempted to give more credit to what some people say or do (perhaps because they are highly paid or famous) and up to a point that's normal. But you should learn to scrutinize what they say. Also, most people (including highly paid ones) aren't exactly "host geeks" and don't even know that much about computers in general.

Are you satisfied with your current DAW. If so, why change? If not, look for something that better serves your needs.

Just tell them it was all done is Cubase if you really give a shit what they think. Problem solved.
