Apparently that's the only universally-respected Waves plug-in.

haha.

Well, when they did their latest thing I jumped at a few plugs. SSL was too expensive for a plug that had too many little issues with reaper (which they don't support) and maxbass didn't give me the "instant grat" renbass does.

Anyhow, proud owner.....we'll see what the future brings ;)

Same problem here.

I had another go at installing the Vocal bundle. Waves installs 'WaveShell-VST 9.0_x64.dll' in my x64 plugins folder but Reaper 4 can't see it. I've tried re-scanning my plugins but no luck. The wavesshell is a PITA - if the individual VST plugins were installed then it might actually work. I really think this strategy is another mistake on the part of Waves.

Few things beat RenBass for "Insta-grat"! :D

I love MaxxBass's more-advanced options (kind of which RBass had an "advanced" switch somewhere), but I find RBass just sounds better, and with no fuss at all.

RVox has great "insta-grat" too. :hihi:

I had no trouble making Reaper find it.

1. Are you running Reaper x64 version?
If so, try start Reaper with Run as administrator.

I have made that default on my shortcut starting Reaper to avoid problems.

Explaining text in Reaper says something about that plugins with same name would just install one of them. I got both the x86 and x64 Waves plugins into Reaper at first try. So I rescanned after I removed x86 folder from Reaper plugins path.

2. Have you any other Waves plugin v9 from before?
You have to clear cache and rescan, for every new Waves plugin you add.

So if something fails, I would try do a full clear+rescan.

3. There is a utility to convert Waves install to individuall plugins. It's supposed to be in Waves install folder(not plugin folder).

Hope you get an idea how to proceed...

congratulations OP, waves are obsolete these days. youre better off not using them. waves is useless as tits on a bull compared to a lot of freeware. any plugin you name that is remotely worth having can be gotten cheaper and better by another developer.

i dont want to hear any devils advocates, lets just leave waves alone for goodness sake.

Interesting take on Waves plugins. :?

I've been looking at a few of their plugins as well. GTR3 for example. Care to expound on why these are 'obsolete'?

maybe because LePou's and Alu's freebies smoke it? not to mention Scuffham's amp. from what i remember in Amplitube 3 demo, i liked it way better than GTR too. although admittedly i only tried the free Waves GTR Solo.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Yeah, well, I know solo is not the greatest thing, but I figure that GTR3 might be a little better. Waves, though, have other plugins as well..I just used GTR3 as an example....

Thing of it is that most plugins will have suckage at some point...I, however, tend to 'see' it as nothing more than another sound source... :hihi:

Thanks for your suggestions. My system is set to administrator mode but I'll try running Reaper x64 in administrator mode as well.

I cleared the cache and did a complete rescan twice but it didn't make a difference. I also removed the x86 wavesshell but this didn't help. Reaper just can't seem to 'see' the wavesshell or the plugins.

I don't think all Waves plugins are redundant. Their Waves Tune does sound very good which is why I wanted to demo it. But the amount of time I've wasted on unsuccessfully trying out a demo is a real PITA and has probably put me off for life. :(

you're right, and I'm extremely glad I don't know as much as you about those horrid plugins.

I believe there is still hope for you if you think Waves has more to do with making a good sound than talent.

I'm proud to say I am waves free. since i dont work at a major studio owned by a major douche I don't even have to come into contact with it or steal it either. I simply leave them alone until I get to KVR then I join in the great bonfire of waves downfall.

Is there something like 'Re-scan failed plugins' option to tick in Reaper?
I mean are failed plugins in a different list and not included in a complete rescan etc.

Not that I'm aware of. It's possible to clear the plugin cache and rescan.
