I feel better already :) .

I got Zoom H4n as well and I'm impressed. All field-rec samples, simply shine in Iris ;-)
Here an example, some tracks recorded at the airport, processed in Iris...

Nice work, matteogk!

A Zoom H4n or something similar is definitely going on my to get list. :)
Available on iTunes, Amazon, etc.

That was amazing Matteogk!!!!

Alright, my reasoning is this: I want to switch to Reason 6.5 when it comes but there's no guarantee Iris will be ported or that there will be a free crossgrade. But - I can still use iris in another host and export it and then use it in Reason. This is one of those synths you can do that with. Especially since it (so far) isn't temposynced.

Happy me!

*Bought* (finally!)

Thanks for the feedbacks, you guys made my day smile :-)
Another small field-recording demo in Iris (I made it tonal this time).
A thunder, sampled and stretched and then processed in Iris (here are two patches). Hope you enjoy it :-)

Here's some (maybe) weird questions:
A) Does it support time stretching? (I find it weird if it doesn't?!)
B) Has someone tried to create some tight basses, synth patches other than pads?
C) Has someone tried to create percussive, short instruments?
Cowbells!

Sort of. You can change how it plays back sounds. In "resample" mode, different notes are played back at different speeds, whereas "Radius RT" mode they are played back at the same speed (although not the same pitch).

But it doesn't really support time stretching in the form of direct sample manipulation if that's what you are referring to?

I've created some short plucks with it, but no basses or percussion yet.

It seems like it would be cool for percussion though. Sample anything, then sculpt the sound to your taste.

Great job to everyone who has posted an audio sample of their Iris experiments! I haven't heard a dull one yet.

I have to single this one out for special mention, though. It's genuinely otherworldly. Simon, you made those horns sound like howling animals. Really cool. This one by itself makes my subscription to your Iris patches worthwhile.

Thank you Dan, I'm actually just now working on a second horn patch for the next set which I will distribute later today - it is such a hot and humid night here that I couldn't sleep anyway so those howling horns together with an approaching thunderstorm outside makes my otherworldly night experience :)

Some bird sounds created with Iris. Try to guess the sample source!

Just discovered that there is no ability to record in the standalone version. You can save the preset, but not anything that you play. In a way, that's logical. Considering Iris ss a synth, there is no reason to expect the standalone to record. But since it allows the user to combine samples, I was surprised to find that it could not record the sound of the combined samples.

Is this an unreasonable expectation? I really don't know.

It offers all basic waves (sine, saw...) as all other synths out there, I made some nice subs. It does not time stretch. Soundscapes design is extremely easy and beautiful in Iris, unlike many other plugs.

Simon, I'm learning a lot studying your patches. In Iris I can see better than in other synths (your Absynth, Kontakt, Alchemy works) what is your intention in processing samples and designing a patch. This is just to say how much I'm grateful for the chance. THX!!! :-)

And I am grateful for your support and the great feedback I am getting from all the soundseekers out there - what great times we live in - audiowise that is - :hail:
