Title pretty much says it all...I need a basic tape recorder type vst plug that will wait for host to start recording. Any recommendations? Thanks:)

I'm probably a bit dense tonight - what exactly do you want to accomplish? And what would the 'host' (= DAW?) do to make this hypothetical VST start recording?

A DAW is a recorder, isn't it… ;-)

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Is this the sort of thing that you are looking for?

This particular complex effects chain that I am working with does not render properly when using the daw's render feature so I need to capture/bounce the audio live. I need the syncing aspect because it will make my life easier when replacing the file in the video project.

Yes looks like EXACTLY what I am looking for. I tried searching for something similar but keep finding tape/reel2reel sims. Thanks :) I will take any other suggestions, the cheaper the better :)

Reaper has go an option for exporting audio live to a file on disc.

I don't know how Reaper supports everything else you need for video though.

Hmm.. when i record a wav-file using Tapeit, i can't open it in Iris, says it's bad format ... i've tried with mono/stereo 16/24 bit
